I was honored today to join my fellow Members of Parliament serving on the Parliamentary Committee of Government Assurance and Implementation, led by Hon. Francis Zaake, we conducted an oversight visit to Dokolo District.

The Committee visited Amondo Bridge to assess the progress of the Government’s commitment towards its construction, a vital infrastructure project expected to improve connectivity, facilitate trade, and enhance access to essential services for the people of Dokolo District.

I express my concern over the slow progress of Amondo Bridge, noting that the project was promised by Government in 2018 with a budget of UGX 7 billion, yet only about 5% of the work has been completed.

I call upon the Ministry of Works and Transport to fulfill its commitment by ensuring adequate funding and the timely implementation of the Amondo Bridge project for the benefit of the people of Dokolo District.

Today, I was honored together with my fellow Members of Parliament serving on the Parliamentary Committee on Government Assurance and Implementation, led by Hon. Francis Zaake, were in Madi-Okollo District for an oversight visit.

With great disappointment over the delayed completion of Aca Bridge, noting that construction works commenced in 2019 and were expected to be completed by 2022, but the project remains unfinished.

I attribute the delay to challenges related to the contractor not receiving full payment to enable the works to proceed as planned. i therefore call upon the Ministry of Works and Transport to ensure that contractors are funded and paid on time so that they can execute projects efficiently and within the stipulated timelines.

I emphasized that timely funding of Government projects is essential to avoiding unnecessary delays, ensuring value for money, and delivering critical infrastructure to the people in a timely manner.

Today, I joined the bereaved family and residents of Kikuunya Village, Nyakabale Parish, Mboira Sub-county, Kiryandongo District, to mourn and attend the burial of three children who tragically lost their lives after being struck by lightning on Thursday.

The three children, from the same family, were: Anirwot Santina Middle Class, Natsha Top Class, Arnold Sentumbwe Top Class and studying at Kizibu Junior Nursery School

The tragic lightning strike affected six children. Sadly, three lost their lives at the scene, while the other three were rushed to hospital for medical attention.

I extend my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, relatives, friends, teachers and the entire community during this difficult and painful moment. I expresse deep sorrow over the loss of the young lives and prayed for strength, comfort and healing for all those affected by this heartbreaking tragedy.

In response to the growing concern over lightning-related incidents, I pledge to engage the Government and other relevant stakeholders to explore ways of providing and installing lightning conductors and lightning arresters in public places, particularly schools, health centres, churches, mosques and other vulnerable community facilities. I emphasized the need for preventive measures to protect lives and reduce the risks associated with lightning strikes in Kiryandongo District.

May the souls of the departed children rest in eternal peace.

Our thoughts and prayers remain with the bereaved family and the entire community during this difficult time.

Today, I had the honour of attending the NRM Parliamentary Caucus, where the Party Chairman, H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, addressed Members of Parliament on a wide range of national and party matters.

The President's address focused on strengthening healthcare service delivery, intensifying the fight against corruption, fostering unity within the National Resistance Movement (NRM), and advancing our collective commitment to Uganda's social and economic transformation.

As the Woman Member of Parliament for Kiryandongo District, I remain fully committed to working with the Government and the NRM leadership to promote policies and programmes that improve the lives of our people. Today i raised critical concerns affecting the people of Kiryandongo during Parliament's session.

I sought an update from the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister on the implementation of H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni's pledge to tarmac the Katulikire-Mutunda-Atuura Road and to provide Kiryandongo District with a ferry. I emphasized that fulfilling these commitments would significantly improve transportation, facilitate trade, enhance access to education and healthcare services, and unlock the district's social and economic potential.

I noted that the tarmacking of the Katulikire-Mutunda-Atuura Road is a long-awaited intervention that will ease the movement of people and goods, reduce transport costs, and stimulate investment and development across Kiryandongo District. I further stressed that the provision of a ferry is essential for improving connectivity, supporting local businesses, ensuring safe crossing, and strengthening livelihoods for communities that depend on water transport.

As the voice of the people of Kiryandongo in Parliament, Hon. Katusiime Jovia remains steadfast in ensuring that the district's priorities receive the attention they deserve and that the Government's pledges are translated into tangible development for the benefit of all.

Today, i joined the family, friends, and the people of Diima in paying their last respects to the late Mr. Ojok Francis, the Director of Brighton Nursery and Primary School in Barodugu Village, Diima Sub County Kiryandongo District.

I extended my heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family, the school community, and everyone whose lives were touched by the late Mr. Ojok. She noted that his passing is a great loss not only to his family but also to the entire education fraternity, as he was a dedicated educationist who nurtured and inspired many young learners.

"I feel the deep pain of losing a master key in the education fraternity. His commitment to shaping the future of our children through quality education will always be remembered, and his legacy will continue to inspire generations to come."

May the Almighty grant strength and comfort to the bereaved family during this difficult time, and may the soul of the Late Mr. Ojok Francis rest in eternal peace.

Today, I was honored to attend the Thanksgiving and Groundbreaking Ceremony for the construction of the Masindi Women Empowerment Center at Kabalega Secondary School.

The event, hosted by Hon. Dr. Asiimwe Florence Akiiki, PhD, Woman Member of Parliament for Masindi District, marked a significant milestone in advancing women's empowerment, skills development, and socio-economic transformation in the Bunyoro sub-region.

I congratulated Hon. Dr. Asiimwe Florence Akiiki on this visionary initiative and commended her commitment to creating opportunities that will empower women through education, entrepreneurship, and capacity building. She noted that investing in women is investing in stronger families, resilient communities, and sustainable national development.

Today, I joined mourners at Kinyogoga Village, Nakaseke District for the burial of the Late Mr. Kansiime Wilson the brother to Madam Barekye Jane, State House Comptroller.

My presence at the burial was in line with the social values of the people, where leaders are expected to stand with families during moments of grief.

Addressing mourners, I conveyed condolences to the bereaved family, called for unity during the difficult time and urged the community to support one another and i also contributed towards the burial arrangements to support the family.

Used the gathering to reinforce the importance of social life, togetherness, and mutual support as key pillars of community development.

I emphasized that social events such as burials, weddings, and community meetings are not just cultural obligations but also platforms for mobilization, sharing information on government programs, and strengthening bonds among neighbors.

“When we come together like this, we build trust. We remind each other that we are one people. This is how we keep our social fabric strong,”

I pledged to continue being available to the people of Kiryandongo, not only in times of celebration but also in times of mourning.

I was delighted to represent the General Secretary Hon Twalla Fadil of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) as the Chief Guest at the Mental Health Dinner and Book Launch organized by our PLU Medical Team member, Dr. Grace Bikumbi.

Held under the theme, “Restoring Hope, Healing Minds,” the event was aimed at strengthening public awareness and encouraging open conversations about mental health.

On behalf of the Patriotic League of Uganda, I was honored to contribute UGX 500,000 in support of this noble cause, reaffirming our commitment to promoting mental wellness and supporting initiatives that restore hope within our communities.

I commend Dr. Grace Bikumbi and the entire organizing team for their dedication to advancing mental health awareness. Together, we can break the stigma, inspire hope, and build a healthier nation.

Today, I had a strategic working visit to Kiryandongo Sugar Limited, where I held a productive meeting with the company's top management Dr. Ramesh General Manager, Mr. J Murali Sanker Factory Manager, and Mr. Kennedy Atuhwere Human Resoure Manager before touring the factory to gain firsthand insight into its operations.

I toured different sections of the factory and observed the sugar production process, from the processing of sugarcane to the final packaged sugar products. I also visited facilities where valuable by-products are produced, including organic manure and other products derived from sugar processing, highlighting the company's commitment to value addition and environmental sustainability.

The management further informed me that the factory employs approximately 2,000 workers, providing jobs to residents of Kiryandongo District and neighboring districts. They also highlighted the wide range of employment opportunities available within the company, including positions for Mechanical, Electrical and Civil Engineers, Chemists, Welders, Fitters, Machinists, Fabricators, Plumbers, Auto Mechanics (Heavy Plants, Light Plants, Trucks and Tractors), Drivers, and Agricultural Staff in field operations, extension services, and research.

I commended the company for its significant contribution to employment creation, industrialization, and local economic growth. I also encouraged qualified Ugandans, particularly the youth, to take advantage of these employment opportunities as the company continues to expand its operations.

During my engagement with the management, I also reaffirmed my commitment to follow up on H.E. the President's pledge to provide a tarmac road and an electricity transformer for Kimogora Village and the surrounding communities. These critical infrastructure projects will not only improve the livelihoods of our people but will also enhance the operational efficiency of Kiryandongo Sugar Limited, strengthen the local economy, and attract more
