How to choose a beer? - 8 tips for the buyer
-Do not chase brands. According to the requirements, beer must be produced according to a certain technology that the company provides, if all the requirements are met (and this is checked by a breakdown of each batch), you can safely stick the label of the famous brand and not have to worry about anything. The main problem is that manufacturers are not profitable to follow all the requirements and they are trying in any way to reduce the costs of cheating both the company and the people.
- The price of beer should not be very high. If you saw a beautiful and expensive bottle on the counter - this does not mean that it has good beer. The price of this drink depends on the brand, so it is better to buy something not very expensive, the difference will be small.
- Pay attention to the bottle. It’s better not to buy beer in plastic containers - plastic is a fairly porous material that allows a lot of oxygen to pass through, which can affect the taste of the beer. If you choose between glass and aluminum, it’s best to choose aluminum — it will let light and oxygen through the least, and it’s also cheaper than glass.
-Carefully read the composition. If the beer contains something other than hops (hop product), malt, yeast and water - this is already bad. Of course, manufacturers will not be able to completely get rid of additives and you are unlikely to find beer with such an ideal composition, but the smaller the deviation, the better.
-Look at the shelf life of the beer. It should not be more than 6 months (with very rare exceptions), if the shelf life is longer - this means that most likely there are various additives in beer that should be avoided.
A very important factor is the alcohol content and density. Normal beer may contain between 3 and 14 percent alcohol. The correct ratio of alcohol and density is 1 to 2.5, the value may vary slightly, but if it diverges very much, then most likely alcohol was added to the beer.
-Look at the foam. If you buy beer at the bar or decide to check the beer after shopping at the store, pay attention to how the foam holds. With a good beer, it should last about 5 minutes and its tracks should remain on the walls of the glass, and not drain.
- Beer should have a slight bitterness. It should pass rather quickly, if you feel a bitter taste for a long time, then something is wrong with beer.
