Maurice Kirya brought his unique blend of “fusion soul” to the Sauti za Busara stage in 2008, captivating audiences with music that beautifully fuses African rhythms and vocals with influences from around the world.

Born into a musical family in Uganda, Maurice has built a remarkable career as a singer, songwriter and guitarist, earning award nominations across Africa and sharing stages with some of the continent’s most celebrated artists.

Beyond performing, he has used music as a tool for social impact, from youth education campaigns to fundraising for life-saving heart surgeries.

Grace Matata brought her beautiful blend of Swahili soul, R&B, jazz and poetry to the Busara stage in 2018, creating one of those performances that stays with you.

From “Free Soul” and “Wimbo” to “Uwe Wangu,” “Hello,” “Tabibu”, and “Utanifaa”, she has given us songs that have become part of many people’s memories.

في المهرجان كان في ورشة اسمها Swahili encounters, في الورشة دي بنتعلم غناء بعض ف تعلمنا عشرة اغاني بلغات مختلفة ومن دول مختلفة مثلاً(جنوب افريقيا تعلمنا تلاتة اغاني بلغات محلية مختلفة)وبرضو بتحمل قصص مختلفة ، ف اخترنا اغنية دار امبادر - ك تعبير عن الحنين والشوق للسودان..

Attending and documenting Sauti za Busara has been on my bucket list for the past five years, and I’m thrilled to finally check it off this year! 🎉 I had the incredible opportunity to document the festival for three days, an experience like no other.

Big thank you to the event organizers and all the amazing artists for their electrifying performances! The energy, the rhythm, and the celebration of African music were truly unforgettable. 🎶🔥
