Overview
Colobus Mountain Lodge is scenically located in the shadow of Mount Meru, immediately outside the southern boundary of Arusha National Park. A short, 20-30 minute drive from Arusha to Usa River brings you to the access road; this winds uphill through small villages and settlements in the foothills of Mount Meru, with excellent views of snow-capped Kilimanjaro. Arusha National Park Gate is situated at the top of this 200m long dirt road, with Colobus Mountain
Lodge just 5 minutes further to the left along the unfenced Park border line.
The centerpiece of this rustic site is an open-sided bar and restaurant with a tall thatched roof, serving first-rate Western and Tanzania cuisine at sensible prices. Eighteen self-contained and well-appointed bungalows are scattered throughout the spacious grounds along well-lit pathways.
Emerald-green grass, tropical plants and shamelessly exotic trees and shrubs proliferate throughout this locale, which is supplied with electricity (& stand-by generator) for lighting as well as solar power for hot water. Solar panels are located at the good-sized campsite, which is equipped with a cooking area and security lights. A toilet/shower block for campers is located outside the large lounge/dining area.
