After six weeks of dodging work, it was time to get back on the horse and help the Scouse Chuckle Brothers with golf today. We had our monthly three person team event known as The Waltz at Green Valley Rayong which has now become one of the top courses on the circuit. We had a total of 51 players made up of every type of Scumuggin that God put on this kind earth. With Barefoot Bob taking a well deserved back seat today, I was left with the Unicorn as my personal pilot for the day.
We paid out on three places and also a birdie pot on the par 3s.
in first place was a mixture of Joe Bonner who is playing the golf of his life at the moment,Dave Bucannan who shot a gross of 74 playing off a 4 handicap and lover boy Jeff Banham who together shot a total of 81 points which proved to be the winning score.
Now everyone knows my personal opinion on small men and it was compounded today as I watched The Monk Bruce Grant team up with Brad Gale and Barefoot Bob take second place with 79 points. Unfortunately that doesn't tell the whole story as poor Brad and Bob suffered serious back damage carrying Bruce around the golf course. With absolutely no shame Bruce collected his share of the prize money which he didn't deserve and dissolved into the Pattaya night.
Third place went to Charlie's Angels or should I say Klaus's Angels which consisted of Klaus who shot one over par, his sweet Primrose Anny who is just improving all the time and Miss Kung who seems to never have a bad game who only lost out by a single shot.
With the Hole in One pot of 30,000 baht today it looked like The Kanute Will Poulton was going to claim it as he hit a salubrious 5 iron 125 yards but unluckily ran just past the hope and in typical Canadian bottling style missed the one foot putt for a birdie. This left the Don Hawkins with the only birdie on the par 3s picking up a generous amount of cash. I don't know if had a grin or a smile on his face as he left the bar after spending his winnings but I am so happy to be back in the bar to see it. Well done Don, I won't mention that your team finished last today.
Afterwards we got into a serious drinking session which is now the norm on a Friday. Brad and Ann provided the free food which was scrumptious. it was then time for some music and loving with Nancy Suthamas singing an array of tunes keeping everyone jiving and dancing the night away.
Nowhere and I mean nowhere in the world would you get the entertainment and blagging that we have in Traveller's Rest Pattaya. Just a side note, so many people are asking me about the whereabouts of Paul Anderson. Unfortunately Paul has shoulder injury that means he just can't play golf at the moment. Talking to Paul he is getting the injury dealt with and will be back on the fairways soon. All he has to do then is go back on the gin and tonics as he is more fun when he is tipsy.
Rock on everyone.
