Update #3 on Dutchie
I intended to update on a weekly basis but new developments.
Dutchie was unceremoniously released from the hospital last night at 10pm. They gave him no choice saying that his body was on the mend and the remaining healing process can be done at home.
We tried to convince them that he was not fit to be released but their decision was final. We don’t understand this decision especially when they’d be making money by keeping him there….very unusual. Thailand is a different beast in every which way. But, it is what it is and that’s all the information we have. He was transported home by ambulance because he still can’t walk or stand on his own.
He's not strong enough to go to the bathroom or feed himself. He will need a full-time caregiver attendant to clean and feed him for the foreseeable future. If all goes well, we’re hoping he’ll be able to do most things on his own in 2-3 weeks, maximum one month. That's the hope!
In the meantime, GoFundMe will pay for his hospital bill and ambulance transport which will amount to approximately 310,000 Baht. Your remaining GoFundMe donations will go towards his home care i.e. attendant salary, medicine, toiletries etc.
A big thank you and appreciation goes out to Len Harvey, and especially his wife Nit, who have been instrumental with helping and coordinating the many, many things for Dutchie. They’ve expended a lot of time and energy.
As for visitors, I will know more at a later date
