For those preferring a lighter meal, or an appetizer to share, or some bites to go with your wine, we recommend a cold cuts and cheese plate; prosciutto, spicy salami, cured feta, pecorino Romano, with home made sourdough. This is accompanied admirably by a delicious and organically produced Domaine de Fondreche rosé from Provence, with hints of strawberry, peach, and a crisp finish.

In a city, inundated with restaurants it is hard to find places where the food is as good as it as .
In an egg tart cafe and up a flight of rather treacherous steps is this hidden gem serving up hearty Portuguese/Mediterranean fare. Begin with the Fig/blue cheese/walnut/honey; move on to the classic Gambas al ajilo; and the Redmouth grouper with caper, rosemary, citrus, radish.
The Cataplana or Portuguese seafood stew is what you’re really here for. Ingredients can change depending on what’s best at the market but expect to see prawns, squid, octopus and clams. Add a bit of the aioli and piri piri and you’re laughing.
A dish that my aunt and mum (they were half Portuguese) used to make at home was the Feijoada and I will definitely be going back for that.
For dessert get their famous egg tart and sprinkling a liberal amount of cinnamon powder on it for that traditional bite.
The best way to end a good food night is with the Cabreira cheese that comes with house-made marmalade on a brioche and you’ll leave belly satisfied.
For nostalgia, stop by the bar downstairs and get a dessert cocktail (I had the “Say Cheese”), made by the former bar manager at . If you remember the good ole days… then you’d know it was one of my old stomping grounds.
