In order to complete the bar hopping scene in the area, Black King Bar decided it needed to offer customers western bar food and snacks that differs to the street food and Chinese restaurants traditionally found in the area. Now that Black King Bar, combined with its sister bars Teens of Thailand; Asia Today; and TAX (the bar located right above Black King Bar), has over 100 seat capacity it only
made sense to introduce a pizza joint that will provide the whole area with exceptional pizzas, pastas, salads, and other bar snacks. The concept and inspiration for Black King Bar started from the heart of Tokyo where the F&B competition is fierce. Black King Bar will not only follow the narrow Neapolitan narratives governing the ingredients, techniques, and styles of pizza, but will expand into its own unique style using familiar ingredients from the region and its neighboring countries as the base sauce of the pizzas. Neapolitan precepts are the perfect foundation for a pizza, however it still requires a lot of modification and refinement to win over the Asian palate, especially Thai’s when it comes to eating. There is still plenty of room for improvement in the bar scene in Thailand and the most obvious way to do so is by improving the bar snacks. More than anything, you will still be able to taste the huge Neapolitan influence from the dough which is made using Italian flour which has an amazing balance of flavor and texture which make you want to finish every last crust. The combination of dough; tomato or white base; mozzarella cheese; and other secret ingredients to each recipe will lead to a perfect balance between flavors and textures that should be more appealing to the Asian palate. Black King Bar’s pizza menu includes over a dozen choices. Black King Bar’s signature dishes evolve around the concept of using black squid ink to improve both the flavor and aesthetics of each dish. The signature dishes are:
Black King Pizza (black ink dough, black ink sauce, deep fried bacon)
Black King Mariana (black ink dough + mariana + white anchovies)
Spaghetti Black Ink
Black Ink Bao Za (baked pizza dough with assorted fillings)
