Less light. More presence. 🌿

At COMO Shambhala Estate, Bali, a renovation is underway with Atelier Ikebuchi — and our approach to lighting is one of restraint.

Not to add, but to reveal: the grain of timber, the texture of natural materials, the landscape shifting beyond every threshold.

A contemporary hand, felt but never seen.

From Light Art to Architecture

Continuing from our last post — here's an example of how ideas from light art find their way into architecture.

For CapitaSpring, we explored how to bring the façade's trees to life after dark. A subtle pale green glow - blended with cool white light against the backdrop of warm interior lights, accentuates the trees’ greenery and gives them a distinct presence at night.

What we didn't expect: the pale green also tinted the shadows cast by the leaves — a quiet, unplanned effect. Those softly coloured shadows now bring a sense of celebration to the space, and to the city around it.

Terminal 2 at Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru

Working alongside Grant Associates, NIPEK developed a lighting scheme that enhances the landscape experience throughout Terminal 2.

Light was used to reveal layers of the landscape beyond what is immediately visible—enhancing form, shaping depth through shadow, and extending the landscape through reflection.

Floating plantings.

Layered shadows.

Landscapes expanded through reflection.

Through the dialogue between landscape and light, a richer passenger experience unfolds throughout the journey.

A transition into amber hues.

As Mumbai transitions from dusk into night, warm layers of light gently define the rooftop atmosphere.

Drawing from the amber tones of the evening sky, the space balances energy and intimacy, offering an elevated experience above the city's vibrant rhythm.

Light flows softly through the lounge, layering warmth, depth, and quiet rhythm beneath the expansive ceiling.

Decorative fixtures, soft uplighting that enhances the sense of openness, and low-level lighting integrated into the interior come together to create a calm spatial experience designed for pause and transition.

A balance between openness and intimacy within the journey.

Great food deserves great light.

Our collaboration with at .sg was built around one idea: the lighting should feel inevitable — warm-toned, layered, and precise. Indirect sources from both high and low positions create ambient depth, while accent lighting brings out the textures and details of each dish.
