PRESS RELEASE : Wala Wala Cafe Bar

Affectionately known as Wala. Wala Wala Cafe Bar, relaxed yet sophisticated in an inimitable way, where beer and whisky aficionados rejoice and where cocktail indulgence will not hurt your wallet. Set in Holland Village since 1993, one would soak up the atmosphere under the stars at the alfresco area where the crowd congregates with their drinks on a balmy night

; some with eyes glued to world sports broadcasted on the LCD screens with a mojito in hand while others indulging the grub with close friends, or perhaps doing a little bit of people-watching. The appeal of this Holland Village stalwart lies with its relaxed and as-simple-as-it-gets-chill vibe. Be greeted by the unmistakable bright yellow backdrop of a bar, where the walls are lined with a diverse range of spirits and at the forefront, 5 taps of brew vie for your attention (Heineken, Sapporo, Kronenbourg 1664 Blanc, Guinness and Archipelago Summer IPA). With more than 70 single malts whiskies including a Clynelish 21yrs, Deanston 9yrs and Laphroaig 24yrs. Just to highlight one beer, the Trappistes Rochefort 6, born in 1953 and survived two World Wars; it started out as a beer designed for 'medicinal purposes'. The range of beverages are a firm punctuation to the qualities on offer that entice regulars night after night at Wala. The bill of fare looks westwards with hints of local delights. The Wala kitchen churns out the signature cast of pizza, pasta, chicken wings, and many more tapas. A must-try would be our homemade whole Jalapeños Stuffed with Cream Cheese and the house special would be our Beef Meatballs in Spicy Tomato Cream Sauce. Wala Wala Cafe Bar has a different experience depending on what you are looking for and makes for a low-key evening out. Come as you are. Certainly a favourite and a veteran in Holland Village, we say drop by and be a part of our history as we turn 31 in 2024!

**Reservations will be accepted before 8pm on Fridays/Public Holiday Eves and before 9pm on Saturdays to Thursdays. WhatsApp us at 9057-4225. PRE-COVID: Our level two closed in 2021. We used to be a two storey institution! On level two, live music used to reign (2001-2020); we had a melting pot of performance that saw an eclectic presentation of pop, rock, soul, acoustic folk and sometimes grunge. Sadly, 20 years of live music came to an end due to the uncertainty of Covid.

Some evenings unfold exactly as planned. Others find their own rhythm. Ngak is currently under the weather, and we are wishing him a gentle and speedy recovery.

We are delighted to welcome Shelby Wang, stepping in alongside Clement. With her expressive vocals and effortless musicality, Shelby brings a graceful blend of warmth, poise and quiet strength to every stage. LIVE MUSIC.

Wala Wala Cafe Bar proudly welcomes Inertia, a band whose journey is as vibrant as the music they bring to the stage. Anchored by the steadfast partnership of Izaar and Boon, Inertia has spent nearly 2 decades performing with passion and evolving through the years. What began as a simple arrangement soon grew into a lasting commitment to continue playing, sharing music, and keeping the spirit of live performance alive wherever the stage may be.

Frontman Izaar delivers a voice and presence that instantly draws a crowd in. His musical taste leans towards the alternative and grunge anthems of the 1990s, thoughtfully balanced with feel good favourites from the 1980s and a selection of modern pop and rock. His natural charm often inspires the room to sing along, creating an atmosphere of shared energy.

Alongside him, Boon commands attention with expressive guitar work, blending fiery solos with melodic lines that linger long after the final note.

Join us at Wala Wala Cafe Bar for an evening with Inertia, where nostalgia and live music come together.

The boys are back after a 2-week break!

Week after week, Jack and Rai fill the room with songs straight from the heart, every note carrying a sense of warmth and easy familiarity. Glasses rise as generous pours of beer, steady rounds of Guinness, and the occasional tequila shot set the rhythm for the night. Laughter lifts above the melodies, voices blend without hesitation, and somewhere between choruses and clinking glasses, the evening slips effortlessly away.

Live music at Wala Wala is never just background noise. It’s the pulse of the room — a living, breathing conversation between stage and crowd, a shared chorus that turns strangers into regulars. Jack and Rai don’t simply perform; they create a space where everyone belongs, where midweek feels worth celebrating.

Make Wala Wala Live your ritual. Come for the music, stay for the moment, and let the night carry you.

WALA WALA LIVE.

Since our stage found its voice again, Wala Wala Cafe Bar has become more than a venue. It is a meeting ground where artists and audiences come together without distance, where every note is played with purpose, and where the atmosphere feels intimate, immediate, and shared.

The music feels closer now. The connection runs deeper. Yet the sense of belonging remains just as it has always been.

Each week, we welcome musicians who bring not only their craft, but also their courage and their stories into our space, while our DJs carry the rhythm forward into the night. This is more than the return of live music. It is a reminder of why we gather, why music stirs us, and why this has always been a place to listen, to feel, and to belong.

Here is what the coming week sounds like.

Our Story

It has been called the establishment, labelled iconoclastic but really, it is just the kind of watering hole everybody wants to have in their neighbourhood.

Enter Wala Wala Cafe Bar - relaxed yet sophisticated in an inimitable way, where beer aficionados rejoice and where Singapore’s live music scene reigns. Set in Holland Village since 1993, the appeal of this Holland Village stalwart lies with its relaxed and as-simple-as-it-gets-chill vibe.

Be greeted by the unmistakable bright yellow backdrop of a bar, where the walls are lined with a diverse range of spirits and at the forefront – six taps of brew (Heineken, Stella Artois, Asahi, Kronenbourg 1664 Blanc, Strongbow Cider and Guinness), vie for your attention. With a solid selection of more than 30 bottled beers, including a local brew called Brewlander Love (Wild IPA). The range of beers and alcopops is a firm punctuation to the qualities on offer that entice regulars night after night at Wala Wala.

A two storey institution, one could soak up the atmosphere under the stars at the terrace which most draws one’s eye - where the crowd congregates with their drinks on a balmy night, either with their eyes glued to world sports broadcasted on the large LCD screens with a beer or mojito in hand, or indulge the grub with close friends, perhaps doing a little bit of people-watching while waiting for the bands to commence the live performances on level two.
