History And Development Of Jerry’s BBQ & Grill
Jerry’s BBQ & Grill was first set up in 1994 by an American named Jerry. Yes, he used his own first name as the restaurant name. At the time, in the early 1990’s, Buffalo Wings as a new American dish was getting very popular and we believe that Jerry was the first person to introduce Buffalo Wings to Singapore. However, in 1996, only barely 2 years after the restaurant was set up, Jerry and his wife wanted to retire back to USA and he sold the restaurant to AL, who is also an American but has become a PR (Permanent Resident) in Singapore.
AL did not change the restaurant name and kept it the same, but he started to put in his money and effort to work on the restaurant. Time went by very fast and the restaurant has been under AL for 24 years already. In fact, in 2003, in addition to his original restaurant at 277 Jalan Kayu, he set up a nice branch with the same identical menu at the very quaint 92 Club Street.
AL has worked to develop his 2 restaurants into more diversified American eateries than just being a Buffalo Wings place initially. In 2007, after a trip to Memphis, he shipped back smokers and introduced American smoker barbecue in his 2 restaurants. Ribs, Chicken, Beef Brisket and Pork Shoulder are slowly cooked in the smoker-oven for many hours with low temperature over hickory wood. The result is a wonderful unique wood flavor and amazing tenderness for the meat. Nowadays, our Baby Back Pork Ribs, Chicken, Beef Brisket and Pulled Pork are the reason our diners come back to us for, aside from the ever popular Buffalo Wings.
In 2014, a chef who had a strong Tex-Mex cuisine background joined us. He brought along his Tex-Mex expertise and further enhanced our menu with Fajita and Quesadilla. These 2 dishes have also become extremely popular with our diners.
Besides these, our Steak is a high-end, premium, expertly aged, Angus Grade. Even so, our price on Steaks are very reasonably below $30. Steaks are among our best selling 5 dishes on our menu.
Because our customers are often curious about our age and our story and I hope this post tells it. We like to thank our customers for their continued support for the last 24 years and we are hoping for another 24 years to come. We are very single-minded. We only strive to be deliciously American.
