Still one of the most underrated JP places in SG. I was intrigued when they had “Rice with seasoned leek” on the menu. Ordered it, added on their signature beef tongue...I swear this was one of the most delicious things I had. So simple, yet so robust. Pure fragrant JP rice of the highest quality, with some of the best beef tongue ever, and topped with JP leek. Can’t get any better than this..
I think most JP aficionados must know of Yakiniquest. They have been around for many years (since 2014), but they are somewhat under the radar. It’s quite different from your usual yakiniku joint. Here, the meats are grilled for you and Yakiniquest is different in the sense that the meats here feel very “clean”. No need for much seasoning, sauces, or toppings. They can only do this since they are using some of the highest quality meats from JP. Let the ingredient speak for itself. I’m all for that. The food here is great. I have nothing but praises for Yakiniquest. For starters, go for their $138 omakase course menu. That would be sufficient for most.
Also, you have some of the best services in the industry. Power couple Suguru Ishida and wife Tomoko are at the forefront of the restaurant, serving every guest wholeheartedly. I appreciate both their sincerity and passion in bringing the best cuts and sharing their knowledge with their customers. Space wise, I do like how each table is spaced out and you do not stink after few hours of dining. Would totally recommend it.
Btw. Pls try their cold inaniwa udon. It’s seriously good stuff…
