Norbergfestival

Norbergfestival offers a unique mixture of live electronic music at the spectacular location around Mimerlaven, an abandoned mining area in the small town of Norberg. Three days a year, industrial concrete buildings transform into an international playground where festival visitors experience a multicolored spectrum of electronic music, sound art, and clubs. Together with light and sound installat

ions, workshops in the fields of audio and video and a friendly and creative atmosphere matched by none, this truly makes Norbergfestival one-of-a-kind. In 17 years Norbergfestival has grown from being a utopian project for a handful of people into one of the most important annual events in the Scandinavian electronic music scene.

Artist Highlight: Jokkoo Collective - Organic Intelligence (O.I.) & Club Takeover

Jokkoo, a Wolof word meaning connection, was founded in Barcelona with the intention to

investigate, connect with and contribute to experimental and alternative arts from the African continent, its diaspora and allied communities around the world. They platform dissident interventions that create moments for sharing energy and ideas, histories and visions of the future. The collective counts on six different personalities with common objectives: Baba Sy, Maguette Dieng (Mbodj), Oscar Taylor (Opoku), Nicolas Beliot (Mooki6), Ismäel N ́diaye (B4mba) and Miriam Camara (TNTC).

Jokkoo Collective will perform twice at this year's festival.

Inside Kraftcentralen, Jokkoo will present their A/V performance Organic Intelligence, inviting us into the depth of the mangroves to explore their vital role in resistance and adaptation to the current climate crisis driven by colonialism, capitalism and its inherent extractivism. Using movement, field recordings, instruments, live coding, theatre and synthesis, Jokkoo builds an evolving landscape, interlaced with vocals in Spanish, Wolof and Catalan. Visuals blend natural and artificial images, transforming the space into an audio-reactive dreamscape echoing the post-apocalyptic atmosphere of the structure they are in. O.I. imagines a future where the mangrove acts as a neural network shaped by the interrelationships between species and environments, able to reclaim global stewardship from the economic elite.

Under the 303 tent, Jokkoo will carry out an extended club takeover of hybrid DJ sets, featuring MC:ing and live tracks. Unapologetic, the takeover moves seamlessly between the different members, showcasing Jokkoo’s wide spanning and unapologetic Pan-African musical expression as a collective in a club setting.

This project has been made possible with the support of Acción Cultural Española (AC/E), and the Embassy of Spain in Sweden.

Artist highlight: R3YWYA (live)

R3YWYA is the noise project of Riga‑based artist Evija Ābrama. Working through improvisation, she treats sound as a form of human communication — instinctive, fragmented, and constantly reshaped. Her practice centers on second‑hand cassette tapes found in thrift shops: objects marked by abandonment, carrying traces of forgotten personal histories. Rather than approaching them as degraded relics, she reuses them as raw material, almost like recycling sound. Through interaction with modern synthesizers, these tapes become active collaborators, speaking again in unexpected textures and broken signals.

R3YWYA has performed at Skaņu Mežs, Tallinn Music Week, and other platforms dedicated to exploratory and experimental sound. Across live sets and installations, Evija creates environments where reclaimed audio, noise, and immediacy collide — inviting listeners into a space where memory is not preserved but reinterpreted, repurposed, and continually transformed.

R3YWYA will bring her sonic arts to Mimerlaven, and we are excited for her to tear up our eardrums together in an electrifying noise performance bound to captivate you as the emitted sonic mass reflects off your eardrums.

||| THIRD ARTIST RELEASE |||

Join us for incomprehensible bpm explorations by LyxTjack; audiovisual experimentation and world-building from Witchy witchery, standout electro by the hardware wizard Obergman and the electroacoustic LTU Showcase 2x3=5 by the School of Music in Piteå.

Pan-African Jokkoo Collective will present their contemplative and radical performance Organic Intelligence, as well as an extended club takeover. We also team up with Danish label Real Live to present a slice of their sound world: genre-fluid vio lino, brutal romantic Heva Vaupel, dreamscaper Soli City and the powerhouse collab of Franarchy, How Goes and Sonic Er****on - Swiss Bank Transfer.

In Mimer, KMH returns to showcase their students and teachers interpreting transients, and Mattias Hållsten explores harmonics through his shō virtuosity. Aho Ssan brings his cinematic soundscapes, while R3YWYA treats us to shattering noise and tape manipulation.

Lyrik i samklang bridges poetry and music to explore voices and expressions from Palestine, Lebanon and their diaspora. Muqata’a and Brenda El Rayes will present original works integrating text by Gaza poets Raed Shniowrah and Nima Hasan, Youmna Saba will perform with oud and song, and Sahar Mousa and Bissan Edwan will read their poetry live.

Our efforts to amplify Sámi experimental music and arts with Kulturporten i Porjus continues - this year featuring brutal hardcore, sludge and screamo outfit Nagirčalmmiid, experimental joiker and guitarist Viktor Bomstad and duo iDJa & Eili Bråstad premiering their meditative audiovisual project Gaskačázis.

Our arts program expands significantly with Unworlding - exploring architecture and dissolution in the context of Mimerlaven through installations, conversations and sound, with SUUTOO, OCO, Alexander Iezzi and Andria Nyberg Forshage.

We also unveil numerous day time activities - hidden in the forest, Old spaces new rave invites you to a silent rave/listening session, as well as many exciting workshops on music production and dance music history.

Artist highlight: Diter (Live A/V)

Diter is a project by Giovanni Onorato and Adam Fored. Their audiovisual work blends glitch aesthetics, microsounds, and unconventional rhythms, and it is influenced by electronic, electroacoustic, and noise music. Giovanni's knowledge in electroacoustic and acousmatic music combines with Adam's background in visual arts and electronics. Together, they created a live-set interlacing sound and visuals in an idiosyncratic way, featuring self-written software and a combination of digital and analog gear that includes Adam's self-built video synthesizer.

Diter's live-set Adagio was premiered at Valkhof Festival in Nijmegen, and at Fylkingen's 90th year Festival in Stockholm. The piece has since been reworked and will be presented at Norbergfestival. Expect an extraordinary audiovisual experience for your brain and body exploding the walls of Kraftcentralen.

Artist highlight: Luka Aron presents Up in the Bell Tower (Live)

Luka Aron is a composer and performer working between Stockholm and Berlin. His music centres on the convergence of synthesis and acoustic instrumentation, folding the force of power electronics into fragile timbral architectures shaped by breath, pressure, and touch. His compositions activate psychoacoustic and spatial phenomena, probing the thresholds of perception and the edges of subjectivity. Algorithmic structures and idiosyncratic tunings create slow-moving sound fields that thicken and distort over time. He is a member of Minua and the group Roomer.

Bells have marked the passage of time, signaled communal life, and accompanied sacred rites for centuries. Up in the Bell Tower by Luka Aron responds to this tradition from a phenomenological perspective: as a resonant force felt in the body, shaping our perception of time and space. Bells recorded in Venice, Stockholm, Norberg, and Aron’s home village in the Black Forest are juxtaposed with physically modeled digital counterparts; bells cast in code rather than metal, their density, geometry, and harmonic structure remapped. Referencing seventeenth-century English change ringing and the indeterminate phasing of free-swinging bells, the piece operates between permutation and unpredictability.

At Norbergfestival Luka Aron will present Up in the Bell Tower at Norberg church which provides a sacred enclosure resonating against the music.

eurodyke (1997) is a sound composer and non-musician. Above all, her mission is to, through musical fission, make the listener disavow their own humanity by performing funny piano melodies, exhuming tiny sonic horrors and practicing sample-bending. She prefers frequencies above 999Hz. Last year, OTOROKU released her debut record ”The extrauniversal clouds”, a sonic fabulation about peculiar beings. eurodyke has performed her music in a lighthouse in Reykjavík, at Cafe OTO, Kontinent Dalsland, and Fylkingen, and was also the latter’s chairwoman 2023-2024. eurodyke has studied electroacoustic composition and intellectual history, worked at the Swedish Agency for Clouds and currently digitizes cassettes at the National Collections of Music, Theatre and Dance. eurodyke looks out for sardines!

In Mimerlaven, eurodyke will only play frequencies above 999.9999[...]Hz. BANISH THE BASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Artist highlight: Filen (DJ)

Filen is a bewitched artist from Copenhagen. Casting spooky spells, and weaving murky soundscapes behind the decks, reality blurs into the unknown. Her love for eerie forest and growling basslines, creates a realm, where lost spells come alive again. Co founder of Søstre I Trance invites witches from far and near, webbing music and visual outlook to a magickal universe, where old witch lore is honoured, & mythical tales live on.. Filen is also a part of Kontoret Records from CPH & Schlabbaduerst ReKkords spawning from Uppsala

Filen has been a pillar of the øresund trance scene the last few years, and her halloween parties for sure sets her out as one of the spookiest DJ:s in the scene. For Filens set, 303 will transform into a dark hive of swampy, ghostly, psychedelic madness to fit the lunatics and freaks of Norbergfestival.
