Not a normal bar.

At Ulysses, each guest becomes the co-author of their own bespoke cocktail.

We work together — through taste, instinct, mood, memory, trust, and sometimes a little madness — to create your very own riff on a classic.

A cocktail that did not exist before you walked in.
And may never exist again.

That is the beauty of it.

My years of experience are there, yes.
But so are you.

Your story.
Your palate.
Your energy.
Your moment.

In this tiny room, the guest is not just served.
The guest becomes part of the fabric of Ulysses.

“We try because it matters to us.”

Ken Dryden was my first sports hero.

I still have his book, The Game.

My father was my hero too. And together, my parents became my compass — a symbol of love, strength, work, and purpose.

At Ulysses, I wear my parents’ wedding rings every day. They are with me always: a quiet reminder of where I come from, and of the love and values that shaped me.

That is why this video moved me.

It is not only about hockey. It is about play. About imagination. About trying. About caring deeply enough to lose yourself in what you do.

Someone recently asked why I post hockey when they expected cocktail-making videos.

Because this is me.

And because Ulysses is not built from a formula.

It is built from what moves me: memory, family, books, sport, art, Lisbon, ancestry, hospitality, and the desire to create something genuine.

We do not have a menu.

We do not have a formula booking system.

We connect through what brings us together here — by messaging each other, by listening, by beginning the experience before you even arrive.

We try to know a little about each guest beforehand, so that mystery and familiarity can live together.

For two hours, you are not simply visiting a bar.

You are stepping into something personal — something created in the moment, with care, imagination, instinct, and love.

The .art portrait of me creating bespoke cocktails is not decoration. It is a reflection of my world. My parents’ rings are there too.

The mural by carries Lisbon, myth, ancestry, and my story across the walls and ceiling.

This is what Ulysses is.

Roots to glass.

Ingredients, yes.
But also memory.
Family.
Place.
Feeling.
Play.

We dream.
We imagine.
We hope.
We create because it matters.

As we mark 9 years of Ulysses Lisbon, this is our reason for being.

And I do my best.

At Ulysses, every cocktail begins with the guest — listened to, understood, and served a one of a kind creation for that exact moment. Where you are our esteemed guest and co author of your own cocktail.

We Listen first.

In 1.8 square metres, time slows down.

A gesture.
A conversation.
A detail remembered.
A cocktail that could not exist anywhere else.

Ulysses Lisbon is an advance-reservation-only cocktail experience.

Because we are an intimate, one-person bar with only four seats, our door remains closed at all times to protect the privacy, rhythm, and immersion of the guests already with us.

Each reservation is a two-hour experience.

There is no menu: every drink is created individually through guest profiling, which requires full attention and presence.

For this reason, we do not accept walk-ins, and we require at least 24 hours notice for reservations. (As stated throughout online media channels)

During service, we are unable to reply to requests with respect to existing guests I am serving. I promise I always reply before or after hours.

This is only way I can maintain the integrity of the concept, and be what Ulysses is. Very much respect and appreciate your understanding.

These walls and this ceiling tell our story —
and the myth of Lisbon breaths.

Ulysses follows Zeus,
to where thunderbolts fall
and a great city is born.
Lisbon — named for its founder: Ulysses.
Our journey begins far from here.
Across oceans.
From the northern lights of Northern Canada

The Aurora Borealis, my mother’s name.
Guided always by a compass,
the direction of my father,
pointing us home.

Along the way, Roca,
our Portuguese Water Dog,
named for Cabo da Roca
where Europe ends
and journeys begin.

Within these walls,
a tiny space holds an unmatched spirit —
a living library spanning three centuries.
We have no menu.
Because you are our compass to your menu.

Your mood.
Your taste.
Your desire.
We listen.

And we create something never done before,
guided by the four elements
and the DNA of a classic.
From the moment you walk in,
the journey becomes yours.

Your mood, your personality, your energy that night. From those answers, he creates a completely bespoke, off-menu cocktail that feels uncannily personal. It’s intuitive, thoughtful, and unlike anything else you’ll find in Lisbon… or anywhere else in the world, for that matter.

And then there’s the cartoon—each guest gets turned into one, a little whimsical touch that adds to the bar’s charm. It’s not something you take home, but it’s a moment you remember—one of those playful details that stays with you long after you’ve wandered back into the Alfama streets.
