The quiz is on again tonight at 8.00 pm Can you beat my team?? We are relaxed and ready for the event. We intend to start this season at the top of the ladder.
Bookings are being taken for Sunday roast Dinners. 12.30 to 5.00 pm. .Tender Roast Beef, Chicken Breast, Steak and Ale pie. Come and fill up.

Here we are, almost time to start the new season for the Yorkshire Tavern. Maz tells me that they still have much to do, so will miss the opening by one day. The Opening day will be TUESDAY Sept 1st.The quiz will be at the usual time. 8.00pm on Friday. The winners of the last quiz wee. Steve and Barbara, and Paul and Debby. My team have been swatting up. I had a look at the British Encyclopedia . It looks very nice. Havent a clue whats inside it. Meanwhile my team have been looking up a few menus. I think we re set for a great start.
I was out for dinner with Bethany at the Casa Avo. A help yourself buffet dinner. What a spread they put on there. A couple of rounds at the starters then onto the Tuna or Pork. Definately stuffed by the time we left.
Wednesday we went to the Malibu for lunch with RBL. where I managed to win a couple of raffle prizes.
We will be going to O Foral for lunch in September. Looking forward to that. They have good wine there.
Antonio gave me a box of fresh Figs. I boiled them in Red wine and fresh honey, Soften the seeds. Then Put that thing in that mashes them. Perfect jam. So smooth and tasty. Yes Cherry. I have saved a jar for you.
My chillies are going mad. Jalapeno are very nice, but I also tried another kind. I bit into one and it was instantaneous combustion.
It is cooling down a touch now, making it more comfortable.

Saturday. Boiling hot again and cant keep cool. I moved the big fan into the bedroom last night, just so I could gt to sleep.
There was no quiz last night as Maz and Antonio are on their way to Lisbon to get their Cruise ship. Just a 10 day around the Med. I am feeling withdrawal symptoms without the quiz. Will I survive Four weeks?
We did have a final lunch with all you can eat Fish. Five different fishes, constantly coming around with more. In the end, we gave up and stopped eating. We managed to get to this Portuguese place at 11.15. It opens at 12.00 and there were already around 50 people waiting. You give your name, and wait until it gets called. Maz ans Antonio know the owner so their name went on the first page. Fifth name to be called and a nice table inside the cool bar for the four of us. There were just as many queing when we left.
Roll on September when the bar opens again. Meanwhile,🪕🍶🍶🍶🍶🍶🍶🍶🍶🍶🍶🍶🍶🍶🍷Cheers

The last Quiz of the season this Friday. Last week was won by Steve and Barbara , beating my team by a few points. They only won because they knew more answers than we did.
Maz had a pleasant surprise , when her bridesmaid of 20+ years ago turned up to say hello. I bet her face was a picture when she saw Sheena after all that time.Sheena and her husband Mark joined our team and pulled us up the ladder onto the podium. Third place was very good when we normally consider second last, to be a win. They were only here for a few days, but I am sure that they will be back.
The weather is really hot and August is the hottest month. This is the time when the bar closes. It will be closed for the whole of August.

How quickly the days and weeks go by when you are enjoying yourself. The quiz is on again tomorrow Friday at 8.00pm
last week the winning team was Paul and Steve. combined teams. ( Dave has gone away I felt a bit like Trigger ) I forget who was second and third. Its an age thing. I was concentrating on hearing my team being called. It didnt happen. Last again. I will be so happy when the Dayman family get here in November. We can easily beat them. If there are any really useless quizers out there. We NEED you. It is so lonely on the bottom rung. We need company. This is the second last quiz of the season for the bar. We have two more chances to win.😭
Dont forget that the bar will be closed for the month of August.
I have Eight shirts to iron. Every time I get around to ironing one. I replace it with two more.
Went for lunch lat week with RBL and met a couple from York. small world.

There was a good number of quiz teams on Friday. We found it quite easy. But we always do when we put the wrong answers down. I always think taht it is better to leave a question blank if you dont know the answer. If doing that, makes you look a bit thick. Its better than putting the wrong answer and proving it. Paul and Dave? joined up and when they do that. They are just about unbeatable. But we were quite close to them again We have been closer. One week we were at the next table. We ended up 7th but not last.
Maz is doing her normal menu on Sundays instead of Sunday Roast. Still same time 12,30 till 5.00pm
The Tavern will be closed for August Saturday 1/8/26 and reopen on Monday 31st/8/26.
Well England have got through to the Semi Finals, against Argentina. 8..00 pm Wednesday. and France against Switzerland on Tuesday. Both matches will be shown on the screens inside and out.
Other teams playing Argentina have failed to beat the 12 man team. Can we do it. YES Lets have a celebration next weekend.🍷🍺🍷🍻🍷🥃🍷🧉🍷🍾🍷🍼🍼🤣CHEERS
