Dancing Books
Dancing Books is a series of workshops in the range of one workshop every month which spots the light on one of the dance books and try to build an interactive relationship with its content by experimenting how to apply this content in the existing space to develop , create new concepts and understanding for contemporary dance . We will be bringing a group of new visitors
, readers to the the library of the french german cultural center in Ramallah . Each month a new subject based on one of the books will be presented to a group of participants coming from different institutions and backgrounds to meet in one place where books , lectures , conversations become the linking words in the group and fundamental criteria for their creativity . And to benefit form its pedagogical content to find ways to teach dance . This project will aim to achieve the following :
- connecting with dancers in Palestine (bringing people together in a neutral space)
- making the dance collection known to a wider public .
- introducing the content of the dance collection by using the content of the media (film screen, picking up some content of the books) and making out of the library a dance floor. creating art work that could be performed instantly , or shared with surrounding employees , students , visitors in the Center . making the informations and the content of these dance books accessible and understandable to those whom are attending to help them find ways to deal with such alien content . Developing theoretical inputs into physical outputs toward technical or/and choreographic approach . Location : Franco-German cultural center Ramallah
Being the host of these workshops , not only solve problem of lacking for space and tools . But also transforming the library into a dance space and taking in the advantage of the neutral position for the center in Ramallah are two very important facts . Because first , students will become closer to the library and second they will not hesitate from participating into these workshops . This workshop will work with people from different institutions and groups , students of dance , drama , circus , sports .
