“Olive Rose brand is not just about delicious food and beverage experiences- we aim for something MORE meaningful than cooking delicious. While we work hard daily to excel in what we do, we are not singularly driven by the goal of cooking the best version or the most delicious version of this and that. We are not motivated by the goal of being the best in the industry. DELICIOUS can be confusing. What is delicious to you may not be delicious to another person. To strongly assert one’s delicious can denote a sense of power and superiority. Imagine how many food establishments and restaurants are regularly impacted (and even “destroyed”) by bloggers/vloggers’ personal definition of “delicious” (and what is NOT delicious)! Olive Rose brand is more motivated by KINDNESS - in exercising our culinary philosophy in the kindest way possible! And that is not limited to choosing ingredients that are kind to the planet- moreso, we work mindfully everyday to make sure we can serve our guests with kindness, that we can be kind and be positively impactful to all our employees, that the business we do everyday can impact our country in a good way and create life-changing opportunities for others. As a wine commentator and Chef, I no longer desire to be “starred” or to be the best in the industry. Instead, I am focusing my work in helping create more jobs for Filipinos, in curating more partnerships with Filipino farmers and artisans so we can showcase more products from our own land, in utilizing my global connections, reputation & expertise to amplify how beautiful and memorable Philippines is and how warm, caring and hospitable Filipinos are. I am also more intentional with how I perform my duties everyday as a Chef and restaurateur towards creating more kind and inclusive workplaces for my employees. As an example, we are known to hire many from the LGBTQ community. In our Ayala Malls Manila Bay branch Olive Rose-The Farmhouse Table, the front-of-the-House radiates with happiness and enthusiasm ran by LGBTQ employees who wear proudly their sense of identity. At Olive Rose, we celebrate kindness and being purposeful day-by-day at our restaurants.”
