Award-winning director Atty. Vince Tañada responds to a netizen’s comment who congratulated ‘Katips’ for reaping multiple awards and nominations from prestigious award-giving bodies despite, as claimed by the latter, that the Martial Law musical drama did not do well at the box-office.

Katips recently got 13 nods from the long-established Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) for its 38th Star Awards for Movies particularly Best Indie Movie Of The Year; Best Director; Best Actor; Best Supporting Actor; Best New Movie Actress; Best Ensemble Acting; Best Screenplay; Best Cinematographer; Best Editor; Best Production Designer; Best Musical Scorer; Best Sound Engineer and Best Original Song.
Prior to this, Tañada won big at the 70th annual awards of The Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) in August when he bagged seven awards out of 17 nominations that include Best Picture; Best Director and Best Actor; Best Supporting Actor; Best Original Song; Best Musical Score and Best Cinematography.
Aside from its domestic run, Katips also embarked on a “grand” world tour hitting the Middle East, Australia, Japan, Germany, Switzerland, US, Hawaii and soon Canada. RONALD SIONGCO/GDM
