Mr. Edgar Malapitan was inspired to establish this Japanese restaurant mainly because of his work experience in Japan a few years back. There, he was blessed to have been granted the opportunity to study culinary arts and after that, was able to apply what he has learned about the craft of making food by working in different hotel chains that serve authentic Japanese food. Joed’s humble beginning can be traced back to the year 2009 when Mr. Malapitan introduced their signature Beef Gyudon and Sukiyakidon dishes at JOED’s first mini restaurant or “carinderia” located in Mabolo, Cebu City. Customers, both Japanese and Filipinos, loved the dishes so he pushed forth on bringing this fresh and unique tradition to Cebu and letting the Filipinos experience the authentic taste of Japan.
