COULD THIS BE THE NEXT BIG WEDDING DESTINATION IN BENGUET?

A new destination for dream weddings is taking shape in the mountains of Itogon.

This September 19 and 20, 2026, Montesierra Events Place officially opened its doors for “Love Above the Clouds,” an exclusive open house experience at Itogon Mountain Village.

More than just a simple venue tour, the two-day event gives couples the opportunity to discover how their dream wedding can come to life—from the ceremony and reception to the finer details that make every celebration truly memorable.

Guests can explore the Chapel of the Mountains, tour the Montesierra Events Place, discover its different event spaces, and meet wedding professionals who can help bring their wedding vision to reality.

The opening day also featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony, cultural performances by the I.Y.A.M.A.N. Cultural Organization, welcome remarks, and the launch of Café Stella’s Grazing Table, Cocktail Bar, and Wedding Cake.

PRESERVING THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT

Beyond being an events and tourism destination, the management also highlighted its commitment to environmental preservation.

According to Ms. Suzy Mejia Bernabe, Board of Directors of Itogon Mountain Village, no pine trees were cut down during the development and construction of the mountain village.

The property also has a sustainability plan, particularly in its waste management practices, as part of its efforts to protect and preserve the natural environment surrounding the area.

ACCESSIBILITY FOR VISITORS

Meanwhile, Atty. Rish Bernabe shared that they are already planning a shuttle service from Baguio City proper to Itogon Mountain Village to make the destination more accessible to visitors.

For now, public transportation from Baguio City to Itogon is already available, including jeepneys and other forms of public transport. Passengers can also get off directly in front of Itogon Mountain Village.

LOCAL CORDILLERAN FLAVORS

Local culture and cuisine are also an important part of the experience at Itogon Mountain Village.

According to Chef Alex Molintas, Operations Manager, the mountain village continues to feature local Cordilleran food, including Potato Croquettes with Kiniing—a traditional smoked and cured pork delicacy from the Cordillera region—along with other local dishes.

Through these offerings, the destination aims to showcase not only its scenic surroundings and events experience, but also the local culture, cuisine, and identity of the Cordillera.

SUPPORT FOR ITOGON’S DEVELOPMENT

Mayor Bernard S. Waclin of Itogon also attended the event and expressed his support for the development of Itogon Mountain Village.

According to the Mayor, the management followed the necessary legal requirements and procedures in establishing the property. He emphasized that the local government did not intend to make the processing more difficult for the management, but rather wanted to be supportive of the project, particularly because of its potential contribution to tourism, local economic activity, and the community of Itogon.

He also highlighted the importance of supporting developments that can help showcase Itogon as a destination while creating opportunities for the local community.

The events industry is an important part of Baguio City’s economy and tourism sector. From weddings and private celebrations to corporate events, cultural activities, and public gatherings, event professionals help create experiences that contribute to the city’s reputation as a preferred destination for visitors and clients alike.

The City Government recognizes the contributions of the many individuals, businesses, and organizations that make up this industry. Among these are legitimate organizations such as the Baguio Event Workers Association (BEWA), the Baguio Wedding and Events Suppliers Organization (BWESO), the Baguio Classified League, and other groups that represent various sectors of the local events community.

These organizations may have different memberships, programs, and advocacies, but all contribute in their own way to the growth and development of the events industry in Baguio City. Through their efforts, they provide opportunities for collaboration, professional development, and the continued improvement of services within the sector.

The City Government values the role of all stakeholders in the events industry and remains supportive of initiatives that promote professionalism, responsible business practices, and opportunities for growth.
