Javier Bravo de Rueda (Peru, 1989) presents “Metaestructuras: Una nebulosa es un hormiguero de estrellas”, a series of assemblages in which elements are organized through systems of relations, tensions, and displacements. Drawing on references between the astronomical and the terrestrial, the works construct invisible structures and speculative narratives that intertwine the geological, the historical, and the fictional, expanding the limits of the observable.

Continuing his line of work previously presented in the exhibition “Itinerarios ###” at Centro Botín (), which brings together artists selected for the 2023 Botín Foundation Art Grants, Javier Bravo de Rueda is currently on view as part of “A mig foc” at IVAM – Institut Valencià d’Art Modern ().

This artwork is currently part of “corredores interiores”, on view through May 30 at Livia Benavides.

Fernando Bryce revisits key moments of the Cold War and the space race through his method of reproduction. In these artworks, he presents two drawings that can be read as a diptych: “Apollo Soyuz” (2019) draws on imagery from the 1975 mission, which marked an amicable end to the space race between the United States and the Soviet Union, while “We Came in Peace” (2019) reproduces President Nixon’s statement following the Apollo 11 moon landing, foregrounding the contradiction between its message and the ongoing Vietnam War.

Through these works, Fernando Bryce reflects on the geopolitical tensions embedded in the space race, where scientific progress is intertwined with narratives of power.
