Bocas is about community. ❤️

It’s about friends helping friends, neighbors helping neighbors, and people showing up for one another when life takes an unexpected turn. If you’ve ever spent time here, you know the magic of Bocas is something rare and special.

This week has been a tough reminder of just how fragile our little community can be. A devastating fire hurt our neighbors and came dangerously close to taking out Tequila Republic. Then, a powerful storm sank The Floating Bar.

We were fortunate this time, but our friends at the Floating Bar are hurting, and they need our help.

We’re asking our Bocas community, and everyone who has ever visited and fallen in love with this place, to come together and help bring the Floating Bar back to life. If you’re able, please consider donating. Every dollar counts, and every bit of support brings them one step closer to reopening.

The businesses that make Bocas special aren’t big corporations with deep pockets. They’re family-owned businesses run by real people who live here, employ our neighbors, support other local businesses, and pour their hearts into making this community what it is.

When one of us gets knocked down, we have a choice: let them struggle alone or help them get back up.

That’s what community does. That’s what Bocas does.

Thank you to everyone who sent us updates and checked on us today. It was incredibly stressful watching this from several thousand miles away, but it appears Tequila Republic didn't suffer any significant damage.
We are beyond grateful to the bomberos and community members who worked so quickly to control the situation. When we have a better understanding of the impacts, we will work with the community to help our neighbors in this difficult time.

❤️ A little update from Tequila Republic

We’ve decided to extend our trip a bit longer so we can spend more time with family during this difficult time.

We appreciate your patience, understanding, and all the love you’ve shown us through your messages and calls. It truly means more than you know. ❤️

With the Panamanian holidays coming up, we have a little extra work to do to finalize travel plans and schedules. We will let everyone know our reopening date as soon as it is finalized.

Thank you for being such a wonderful part of our Tequila Republic family. We look forward to seeing you all back at the bar when we return. 🍻

The comments, messages, and phone calls we’ve received mean more to us than we can put into words. During a difficult time, your kindness and support have reminded us just how lucky we are.

We’ve always been grateful for our customers, but Bocas has given us something even more special — a community that feels like family. And right now, we’re especially thankful for that.

We are open today, but will be closed starting tomorrow, October 15, through Friday, October 23. We plan to reopen Monday, October 26, and will keep everyone updated if anything changes.

A quick update from Tequila Republic ❤️

Due to an unexpected death in the family, Tequila Republic will be closed Thursday, October 15 through Sunday, October 25 as we take some time to be with family.

There will be no open mic on Thursday, October 15 or Thursday, October 22.

We appreciate your understanding, patience, and support while we take this time away. We plan to reopen Monday, October 26, and look forward to seeing everyone then.
