It’s with much sadness that we confirm Black Dog HQ (our brewery bar) on Cuba Street will not be reopening.
It’s been an amazing journey, starting all the way back at our original location on Blair Street nine years ago and ending here on Cuba Street as proud members of the community in this unique part of the city.
We’d like to thank our brewers, staff, friends, customers, suppliers, partners and four legged pals who have supported us over the years. You helped make Black Dog the special place it was. The brand will live on, so rest assured you’ll be able to find your favourite Black Dog pint on tap at other Wellington venues.

We thank you for all your support and patience. Keep safe! Cheers, Black Dog Crew

It was great to attend the NZ Food Waste Champions 12.3 launch at Prefab Hall in Wellington last Thursday where we had the opportunity to showcase Black Dog’s latest collaboration beer with Pandoro Bakery - a Sour Saison made with left-over bread which was destined for the landfill, aptly named “Sour Dough”. The room was filled with people all doing their bit ( some on local, some on a national and some on a global scale) to tackle the goal of halving food waste by 2030. It was truly inspiring to hear about some of their initiatives aimed at helping ensure future generations can enjoy the planet in the same was we and previous generations have.

From frothy seas and mountain waves. His shield steady, his sword at the ready, hopping from foot to foot. The power of kveik yeast and raspberries have been bestowed upon our Viking bartender, with which he has conjured a stout suited to the palettes of norse gods.
Weighing in at 3.3%, it’s delicate taste will calm your inner berserker. This little puppy is named after the guardian of Hel, the norse bloodhound – Garmr.
On tap soon so make sure to try it, over Hel or high

Watery eyes from prolonged eye-contact. Sore cheeks from putting on a smile in public. Sweaty palms from holding hands but not wanting to let go. Romantic
clichés whispered directly into your ear... Things get a little cheesey this time of year – but we’re embracing it.

Bring that special someone in for our beer and cheese night. We have cheese to please from the artisan cheese suppliers, the Cheese Wheel, and we “marry” them with our beers. Romance never smelled this good.

Only 20 tickets available. 14 Feb. Table candles. Dim lighting. Intimate seating.

We will be down there running a competition for the ‘sacred‘ first pour as well as selling some of our awesome Black Dog merchandise.
