Jazz fest starts today! Tonight we’re kicking off with Louis TM - soul meets jazz! $25 tickets available via UTR or $30 on the door.
Thursday we will have Loose Parts, playing live, improvised dance music, drawing inspiration from jungle, liquid funk & more. $10 tickets via UTR or $15 on the door
On Sunday we will have two shows! At 4.30pm, six-piece progressive reggae band Sublimate will be performing original music, blending influences from jazz and neo-soul. $10/15 unwaged/waged via UTR or on the door.
After this, at 7pm, Free Status will deliver an energetic and emotionally engaging take on modern jazz fusion, blending the melodic richness of classical music, progressive rock artists like Genesis, the spontaneity of Herbie Hancock, and the groove of ‘70s jazz funk with an electronic edge. Tickets $15 via Eventfinda or on the door.
We also have some non-jazz fest gigs this weekend for those less jazz-inclined!
On Friday, come down for Club Vitamin, hosted by Vitamin Cos - a female-fronted DJ gig focusing on high-energy dance music, including baile funk, global club & jersey, with Nifeflip & Licious. $10 tickets available via atmosmedia.co.nz
On Saturday, Dance Therapy close out their all-night-long series with label head Flatmate! They’ll be bringing a full-vinyl session led by groove, coloured with psychedelia and energised through spontaneity, powered by Torque Sounds. $20 tickets available via Humanitix.
