Pinnacle New Zealand Pilsner just landed a Top 25 spot in the New World Beer & Cider Awards 2026 - judged against 650+ beers and ciders from across Aotearoa.

We went looking for the pinnacle of NZ hops, and found it in experimental Bract NZH-106 - so new it didn’t even have a name yet. This pilsner was brewed to give it the perfect showcase: fresh, bright, and thirst-quenching, with tropical hops and a bready backbone.

Also flying the flag this year: 8 Wired iStout, taking home a Highly Commended.

We tried something new.

We’ve brewed with chocolate before. We’ve brewed with orange before. But we’ve never combined the two - and we’ve certainly never done it with cashew nuts.

That changed when our Sales Manager Hannah White, based in Wellington and a fan of Wonderland Chocolate’s work, brought founder Kate Necklen and our head brewer Søren together around a shared idea: what if Talia - Wonderland’s award-winning orange chocolate, made with cashew milk - became a beer?

Wonderland prepared and packed roasted cacao nibs and aromatic cacao husks from their Lyall Bay factory and sent them north. At the brewery, Søren did something a little unexpected - half the cashews went straight into the mash. After fermentation, the beer was loaded with the cacao nibs, husks and more cashew nuts to build a creamy, luscious mouthfeel. Organic vanilla extract for smoothness. Orange oil for that unmistakable Talia character.

The result? A rich, velvety imperial stout that delivers milky chocolate and bright orange - without a drop of dairy. Nearly all of our beers are already vegan, and this one is no exception.
