The final of the Armstrong Trophy was played on Saturday, which is the main men's pair knockout competition for the year.

Taking the win was Ronnie Moffat & Martin Cameron (pictured with mens club captain Glen Clarke). Congratulations Gents!!

For our regular followers, those surnames might be familiar. As both Ronnie & Martin are still only the 2nd best golfers in their household - their wives won their respective senior & intermediate women's club champs finals recently!!

Ronnie & Martin defeated Leigh Stock & Matt Burgess in the final. We understand the clubhouse noise was more subdued than what it might have been if the result was the other way around.......😜

A Special General Meeting will be held at the clubhouse on Thursday 25th of June at 5.30pm.

The agenda will be to set the 2026/27 subscription rates and voting on further direction on proposed clubhouse development (new build vs renovation).

Further information will be emailed prior to the meeting. For the clubhouse, it will not be a final decision, but rather providing direction for further investigation and working through additional steps to finalise proposals.

Congratulations to Raphael Anderson, who has been selected in the New Zealand Development/Junior Team to play in the 2026 Ciputra Golfpreneur Junior World Championship in Indonesia!

This is being played at the Damai Indah Golf Pantai Indah Kapuk (P*K) Course near Jakarta, from the 10th to the 12th of June. This is for under 19 golfers.

Awesome work and we wish Raph all the best for his upcoming tournament.

Raph is seen here with President Tony Brent (on the left 😅) receiving some funding from the club as a contribution towards travel and tournament expenses incurred over recent times.

Great story from Hawea………

Congratulations to Jake C***s, also a member at Wanaka for holing out on the Par-4 245m 9th in their senior club champ final!! ⛳️

Jake has been out for quite a while with injury, so great to see him back out on the course!!

⛳️ HOLE-IN-ONE ALERT! ⛳️

Congratulations to Jake C***s on an incredible hole-in-one on the 9th green at Lake Hāwea Golf Club! 🏌️‍♂️

The ace came on Jake da Muss' 18th hole during a gruelling 36-hole Senior Final against Tony Ascott, with Jacke going on to take the win in impressive fashion.

This makes history as:
- The first hole-in-one ever recorded on the 9th during a club day
- Only the second ace ever on the 9th green at Lake Hāwea Golf Course

The first was achieved by Adam Fairmaid during a casual round two years ago.

A fantastic achievement and a moment that won’t soon be forgotten. Well played Jacke! 👏🍻

Congratulations to Marg Caldwell & Scott Little for winning the Morris Trophy last Sunday. This was two rounds of mixed foursomes, with the best aggregate over the field.

Marg & Scott also won the day last Sunday with a net 66, and sure Marg would have enjoyed taking the win over her husband on countback!! 😅

You may have noticed a recent new installation on number 6 tee…..

An artificial grass tee has been installed on a concrete base, for use on non-competition days through winter. The turf is the same as the practice range.

This is with the heavy wear on what is a relatively new tee, so this has been installed to help minimise and protect the grass turf.

At this stage, this is the only artificial tee planned, but may look at the 15th but will depend on various factors.

Sun broke through the murk for today’s club tournament, kindly sponsored by Matt and the team at Dropping Inn (Lake Hawea Hotel & The Treehouse).

In the men’s division, round of the day was Ryan Shuttleworth with a 7 birdie 64. However, the Ralph Templeton Memorial Trophy went to Scott Findlay with a great net 64!

In the women’s divisions 2 trophies were up for grabs, with Wendy Borrius Broek winning the senior trophy, and Lynley Barker taking out the junior trophy.

Surprisingly despite the good scoring and over 100 players, there was only 4 twos - with life member Carrick Jones have two of them!!

Women’s Results:

1st Lynley Barker net 67
2nd Philippa Findlay net 68
3rd Nicole Fougere net 68
on CB Wendy Borrius Broek net 68

Men’s 0-15
1st Ryan Shuttleworth net 66
2nd Karl Buchanan net 67
3rd Chris Withy net 68

Men’s 15+
1st Scott Findlay net 64
2nd Ross Hammond net 67
3rd John North net 67

Thanks again to Dropping Inn for their continued support and sponsorship. 👍👍👍
