A huge congratulations to , winners of the OneMusic Outstanding Local Establishment – Central at this year’s Lewisham Awards 👏
It was an honour to present this category and recognise such a legendary institution alongside such an exceptional group of finalists - , and - who each deliver standout hospitality experiences in Tāmaki Makaurau.
These venues represent the best of what Auckland hospo has to offer - attention to detail, creativity, and genuine care for every person who walks through the door ❤️
We’d also like to extend a big thank you to the team for delivering another incredible night recognising the people, places, and passion that make this industry so special.
Proud to be part of it - and looking forward to some special nights out at our favourites soon 🎉

🌟 This NZ Music Month, we're celebrating artists who don't just make music. They make history.

Proudly Māori and le***an artist THEIA features on the cover of YOUR EX magazine's May edition, and it's a moment worth shouting about. From her debut album 'Girl, In A Savage World' to speaking at the United Nations on Indigenous rights, Theia is a powerful example of what it looks like to create fearlessly and unapologetically in Aotearoa.

Theia's work explores identity, queerness, colonisation, and tino rangatiratanga, and she's doing it all as an independent artist navigating the realities of the NZ music industry.
When businesses get licensed through OneMusic, they contribute back to artists like Theia, helping ensure the music that moves us keeps getting made. 🎵

Pick up a free copy of Your Ex magazine at venues, cafés, and community spots across Auckland and Wellington, or read the full issue online via our link in the comments 👇

From jamming on their first night of uni to stepping onto one of Aotearoa’s newest big stages in Te Kaha One New Zealand Stadium, Ōtautahi pop-rock band Castaway have kept the same energy and connection since day one.
🎥 In this video interview, the boys reflect on holding onto that original spirit while navigating the realities of life as musicians - balancing full-time work, creative ambition, and the behind-the-scenes support that helps the music travel beyond the rehearsal room and into everyday spaces.
Here for NZ Music Month, our latest blog explores what this full-circle moment meant for Castaway - alongside insights from Venues Ōtautahi CEO Caroline Harvie‑Teare on what Te Kaha represents for the future of live music in Aotearoa.

Did you catch Ant Healey on Morning Report yesterday? 🎵

Ant, APRA AMCOS NZ Head of NZ Operations, had a great chat with John Campbell covering all things NZ Music Month - from playing local artists and how OneMusic and royalties work, to the rise of Waiata Māori, APRA’s 100th anniversary, and even AI.
He also talked about the government’s Big Event Fund and why making sure Kiwi support acts are part of the deal could be a real win for our music community.
It’s a great listen - link below! 👇

For 25 years May has been New Zealand Music Month, a platform created to raise the profile and success of local artists. Also for 25 years, APRA/AMCOS - the organisation that collects royalties on behalf of songwriters - has been led in New Zealand by Anthony Healey. He spoke to John Campbell.

We love a business owner who just gets it. 🙌
Emily Miller-Sharma from RUBY knows that music sets the tone for everything - from how her team shows up, to how customers feel the moment they walk in. She also knows that the artists behind that music deserve a fair return.
"The more businesses signed up to OneMusic, the bigger the pool that goes back to the artists."

🌺 Following a month where Pacific culture was front and centre in Tamaki Makaurau, we’re continuing the conversation with a Pasifika perspective on music and licensing.
In our latest blog, Samoan creatives Henry Onesemo of award-winning restuarant Tala and David Feauai‑Afaese founder of Samoan indie rock project LEAO reflect on why valuing music means valuing the people who create it.
