Blues Guitar 1:
If you are a beginner/intermediate-ish guitar player wanting to learn this awesome genre you are welcome to sign up on my Blues Course 101 classes starting next Wednesday. First in basis as numbers are very limited.

Country Guitar 1: Gauging interest for my Country Guitar module. Country guitar is quite a diverse style and certainly one of the most challenging styles to master so wouldn't suit absolute beginners. Steel guitar bends, chicken picking, double stops, open string licks etc - it's all in there and a lot of fun! PM if you are interested.
CAGED SYSTEM 1: My absolute fav! This course is for lead guitar players who want to get around the fretboard and really understand what they are playing. It will suit beginner-intermediate up to advanced players who may want to 'fill in the gaps' This course is not genre or style specific so everyone is welcome to jump on. I'll bring out a 3NS module once it's completed aimed specifically at you rock guys PM for details.

Blues Guitar 101 is up and away! We're looking for a couple of guitar players who want to learn how to play the blues so we can kickstart Module 2 on a Tuesday evening, 6.30 - 7.30. The module will run for around 8-10 weeks. You do need to be able to get around the guitar at a basic level. Will also suit players who are stuck in that "one box" PM for details - don't be shy, we are a friendly bunch! :)

Kia ora! I'm after one or two guitar players to fill a spot on my new beginner blues course - Blues Guitar 101starting next week. The course will run over 10 weeks, once a week for an hour from 6.30-7.30 on either Tuesday or Wednesday. Ideally you should be able to play bar chords as a minimum. This course won't suit if you can already fly around the 5 major/minor pentatonic positions. I will be offering a course for more advanced blues players soon though. Studio199 has some amazing students and I'm thankful for each and every one of them! If you, or a family member, are thinking about learning to play the guitar I'd love to hear from you.

Maybe you just want to learn to strum a few tunes or have a more serious outlook. Either way I've got you covered! Something exciting in the works is my new 'Blues Guitar 101' course for beginners which I'll be rolling out very shortly. This will be in a small group format (3-5 players) running for 12 weeks and will get you up and playing awesome 'blues guitar' in no time! Very timely as we are in the process of starting up a 'Blues Club' shortly! 'Taupo Blues Collective' - I think its called at this stage. The first one will be held at the Cossie on Thursday 29th October. You can post/pm here if you are interested coming along :)

For those who want to learn lead guitar but aren't interested in reading music, I will be rolling out my 'CAGED Guitar System' course, again in small group format. This is more aimed towards the beginner/intermediate players and also perfect for advanced players who want to fill in the 'gaps' in their knowledge. It's the exact same material I teach my one-on-one performance-focused students but in a greater value package.

I'm sometimes asked what is the best age to start, and that depends solely on the student, however, around 7 years is probably at the younger end. There is absolutely no upper limit, however, a great attitude. passion, and commitment will achieve the best outcomes. With the onset of Covid 19 the majority of my local students have transitioned to online guitar lessons with me via Zoom. There are some things I really like about online teaching and have started teaching out-of-town students. If you want to learn to play guitar pm me and let's make it happen. NB: I'm well aware of the impact on many during these times of uncertainty and will do my very best to help out where I can. First trial lesson is free either way and let's go from there.You will need a guitar though.
