It takes a rare palate to earn national recognition. It takes an even rarer partnership to earn it twice, in the same list, while living and working under the same roof.

This week, both Giulio & Nathaly were named among New Zealand’s Top 100 Sommeliers. Not a joint award for a married couple who happen to work together, two individual places on the same list, earned separately, side by side.

We’ve watched these two build our wine program glass by glass, story by story. Their ability to guide a first-timer through our extensive wine list or debate vintages with our regulars, is truly a special skill.

This recognition belongs to them, and we couldn’t be prouder to call them ours.

Not every wine needs an introduction, but this one’s earned a good one anyway 🍷

Château Latour has been one of Bordeaux’s most respected names for over 170 years, and it’s held onto that reputation for a simple reason: it just keeps delivering.

The 2010 is one of those vintages people still talk about; a really special year that gave the wine incredible depth without losing its balance. It’s bold and structured right now, but there’s a softness underneath just waiting to come through with a bit more time. Good things come to those who wait, and this bottle is proof.

A big congratulations to Pier on being named Rising Talent at the 2026 Cuisine Good Food Awards.

It’s a wonderful recognition of his talent, dedication and the hard work he has put into his craft during his time at Toast & Oak.

We’re incredibly proud to have provided a place where that talent could be nurtured and developed, working alongside a passionate team and under the guidance and mentorship of Executive Chef Giulio Barducci.

Recognition like this is also a reminder of what can grow when talented people are given the environment, support and opportunity to push themselves further.

As Pier prepares to finish his chapter with Toast & Oak and embark on a new adventure, we wish him every success for what comes next.

Congratulations, Pier! A fantastic achievement, and one we’re proud to have played a part in. 🥂
