Brown Pub Methven Bar & Restaurant One of them is Blue, one of them is Brown. Ours is the Brown one. Our accommodation recently had a facelift including carpet, paint and bedding.

As you pull into Methven Mt Hutt Village and stand at the cross roads of the two main streets (one fittingly named Main Street!) you’ll see two pubs on opposite corners. The catch phrase “your true country pub” is very apt as this is indeed a classic New Zealand country pub. y Restaurant has a fabulous menu complete with some delicious new items and the classic favourites we know you love! The Brown Pub, previously named New Zealand’s Best Country Hotel at the HANZ Awards for Excellence, is located right in the middle of town and offers the Main Bar, the Fireside Bar, a family restaurant, fresh, clean affordable accommodation, the only bottle store in town and naturally a great time. We are also very proud to be awarded the Lion Breweries Beer Master award for demonstrating excellence in beer quality and presentation – ten years running. So you know the beer is going to be good. It also helps that we live in New Zealand’s best little country town. Methven is a dynamic mix of generations old farms and up and coming real estate. It’s a lively ski town in the winter bringing with it a huge influx of travellers both international and domestic, who are all up for a good time. In the summer it’s a peaceful place to stop on a sightseeing tour and relax amongst some of the regions most beautiful scenery. Its also home to some of the kindest, most generous people you will ever meet. Methven is still very much a community, we love it here and hope you will too.
