With an awesome possy right on the waterfront of Akaroa the Bully Hayes was the perfect stop for me cos it had the yummiest Mulled wine. As Jas knows his chowder as do I the Mulled wine and for me this was a solid 9!

On the coast road from Akaroa to Lyttleton, this great little place has everything except Jack Daniels 😂 Views to die for, Great food,Mulled wine, open fire, mean music and heaps of space indoor and out. They also have accomodation and a function room. The Otoromiro Hotel aka Governors Bay is a quaint, almost English feel pit stop for sight seeers

This year we had the chance to revisit Donegal House in Kaikoura and spend the night there. Great cos we got to experience the evening vibe too. After a massive lunch in the sun (chowder a solid 8 according to Jas) in beautiful gardens with the friendly ducks and under the snowy kaikoura mountains we walked the 50 metres to our $30 powered site, had a snooze, a tiki tour into town then went back for evening drinkies where the open fire was roaring and every table was full of happy diners. And as a bonus we watched the Hurricanes beat Crusaders in a nail biter on the big screen. 💯💪

Back on the road. First stop the Tui Brewery at Mangatainoka. Cool spot, heaps of parking (even free camping with a dump station), heaps of outdoor seating, lots to see and a gift shop next to restaurant. The brewery has tours throughout the day and the grounds have an awesome function venue! Good food and drink at a reasonable price. Fun, eclectic decor to inspire good conversation. Highly recommended.

In the gorgeous coastal village of Kaiaua there's the super popular Bay View Hotel. Always busy with riders and classic car lovers you're guaranteed to bump into good friends on the same sunny Sunday roady. Huge car parking area, usually full of gorgeous bikes and cars to photograph, huge alfresco outdoor seating, ample screens with the weekend sports. The food menu has a yummy variety to suit all tastes, large portions and well priced. There was even an awesome live singer this arvo ⭐⭐⭐ what a bonus. The perfect weekend go-to when the sun is shining. Even better with mates 😎

Been a while but we finally got out for a ride and ended up at the Te Poi tavern today. Love this stop off, beers we'll priced, so is the food and always a smile from the staff. A favourite for classic cars and bikes, we were treated to an awesome looking coupe today. If the cars and bikes don't do it for you there's a giant cow for you to photograph 😜

We booked this through the First table app. First time we've tried it so a bit nervous. We might have saved 50% on our food but the service was in every way 100%. The venue is like a cosy log cabin, staff were attentive but not pushy, the music might as well have been taken from my fave playlist. Our feast came in good time even though the restaurant was busy, the ribs were juicy as hell and the steak medium rare as asked. Everything was cooked perfectly and the margaritas couldn't have tasted better if I'd made them myself. All up starters, mains, a couple of cocktails and soft drinks for Jas came to $96. A saving of $50+ Happy happy happy

Nothing beats sitting round a roaring fire with a mulled wine. We got more than that at the Landing. Fabulous feed, great portion size, happy hour cocktails and complimentary popcorn in a relaxed atmosphere... Then finished with one of the best mulled wines I've tasted around a little outdoor brazier.... Great evening and full bellies cost just over $100. So good we went back for more after our walk today 🍷🍷🍷

In saying that who needs to change what works so well.... Simple cosy home cooked food, good music, warm fire and a nice cold cocktail. Spicy chicken wings and chowder recommended 😜

Spent a night at the Ross hotel. You would never have guessed it was pi***ng down outside. Inside the fire was roaring, the drinks were flowing and the food was absolutely bloody delicious. The 5 x venison steaks and lamb shanks were plentiful and cooked to perfection. Great value and service in this little south island Hamlet.
