Progress on Court 1 is moving right along! 🔨✨

That’s one wall down, thanks to our fantastic crew of volunteers and helpers (big and small) who have put in the hard yards so far! 🙌

We’re now tackling the next 3 walls to get Court 1 fresh, smooth, and ready for action. The countdown is officially ON for the Open in October! 🏆

Please remember to keep off Court 1 while the work is underway. Court 2 is still available as usual.

Court 1 is officially out of action for the next three weeks while it gets some much-needed R&M! 🛠️✨

For everyone's safety and to let the team work their magic, please strictly stay off Court 1 until further notice. Court 2 remains available as normal.

We will keep you updated with progress photos as things take shape. Thanks for your patience while we begin to give our facility a proper spruce up.

Dust off your racquets and get ready to stake your claim! 🤠🌟🏆

The Hokitika Squash Open 2026 is officially around the corner, and this year’s theme is Wild West Gold Rush!

Whether you are aiming for glory or just keen for a fantastic weekend of squash and great company, this is one tournament you will not want to miss.

Where rivalries are forged and legends are made.

Event Details:

Date: 30th – 31st October 2026
Venue: Hokitika Squash Courts
Grades: All adult grades welcome
Entry Fee: $40($15 per additional head to Saturday night event)

Entries close on the 23rd of October, so get in quick!

What a brilliant way to wrap up the term with our Junior Squash Stars! We had a fantastic final afternoon on the courts last Wednesday, topped off with a well-deserved pizza and hot chips shout.

A massive thank you to all of our incredible volunteers who make this junior programme possible week after week. We also loved having our Club President pop down to have a hit with the kids during our final session. It was the perfect opportunity for everyone to show off just how much their skills have grown.

The improvement across the board has been awesome to see. Every single player is now holding their racquet correctly, hitting the ball with confidence, and moving around the court with ease. Our older group are putting together some truly excellent rallies now, with most of them fast approaching game-ready level.

We hope all the kids had as much fun as we did. Enjoy the break, and keep an eye on our page for the next junior programme start dates, expected to kick off again in Term 4!!

Entries are now open for the West Coast Squash Championships, hosted by Greymouth Squash Club on 12–13 June.

Thank you to parent helper Stacey for taking yet another awesome Junior Squash Stars session this Week!! 🌟

It was fantastic seeing our older Squash Stars stepping up to support and encourage our younger players — such amazing teamwork and leadership on display. 💛

The courts were also filled with plenty of laughter, smiles, and fun, making for such a positive atmosphere all around. 😊

We celebrated some huge milestones too:
🏅 One Squash Star achieved 5 consecutive bounces for the very first time!
🏅 Our players are growing in confidence when returning the ball and giving it a go.
🏅 Another Squash Star smashed out 20 bounces on the racket!
🏅 And another reached an impressive 10 volleys on the wall!

We love seeing the determination, confidence, encouragement, and joy growing each week.

Ka pai everyone — keep up the awesome work! 👏🏽

🚴‍♀️ Heads up Friday club night crew! 🚴‍♂️

This Friday, St Mary’s School are holding a Bike-a-thon between 5pm–5:30pm and will be using the rear gateway access beside the squash club.

To help keep things running safely and smoothly, we ask that all club night players please park on the street instead of the rear tennis court parking during this time.

Thanks everyone for your understanding and cooperation — and good luck to all the kids taking part! 👏
