🌿 He karanga tēnei ki te hapori – a warm invitation to our community 🌿
Many of you will know Dorrell, a long-term local who has arranged a very special opportunity for our community. She is delighted to welcome Te Motere Tawhito o Wairau Kapa Haka to share their beautiful art with us.
Kapa haka has been part of Dorrell’s life for as long as she can remember. For 25 years, she performed as part of a travelling group, sharing traditional Māori performance with communities across Australia. Since returning home to Aotearoa in 2010, she has travelled to Blenheim fortnightly to continue what brings her deep joy — being part of the well-established Te Motere Tawhito o Wairau Kapa Haka group, named for the ancient riverbed of the Wairau region.
Seventeen members of the group have travelled south to experience the place Dorrell — and many of us — proudly call home. They warmly invite you, your whānau, friends, and visitors to come together and witness the very best of kapa haka in Aotearoa.
