Well.
What a day, wet and cold. Spring is certainly doing its thing. One day hot and then the next....
We met at the Peg heading off though the back roads of Ohoka and Rangiora. To the Pineacres Restaurant,
An old place that has been at the junction of Main North Rd and Williams street for many many years.
What a surprise, the staff were lovely and the food was incredible. Good choices and so delicious. A big improvement since I was last there in 1996.
Would we go again? Most definitely!

Meet up at the Belfast Pub ( the Peg ) at 10.30am
To leave at 11.00am.
Today we are lunching out Nth Canty way

The ill-fated run to the Cruzy Days Diner. Or what didn't happen
Well the Sunday run is done and dusted. Or should I say Mudded.
Graeme and Merle had organized a great run to a really cool looking Diner in Oxford.
All was going well until Graeme heard a rumour, so he started checking around. After trying the phones etc he took a drive out to the diner to find that it was closed/sold. With no communication from the owner. After scrambling around trying to get reservations at various places on Fathers Day no less.
The Oxford Working Mens Club came to the rescue.
So meeting at Spitfire Square on a wet and cold(See photos) 15 cars and 32 people headed away on some quite nice roads to Oxford. Graeme only had to change two instructions for the run.
All was going well until somebody in our car gave the wrong instruction. (I don't think I will live that one down)
The Club put on a very nice two course meal for us. $35 a head. Very reasonable for the short notice they had.
All in all, a good day out. And my Son the driver said he enjoyed the day. Thinking about a car now.

SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 6TH
Meet at Spitfire square 544 Memorial Ave10.30 for an 11am departure to
“THE CRUISY DAYS DINER” in Oxford where we will have the venue to ourselves for two hours or so.

This is an iconic 1950s themed diner with a great menu.
We look forward to your company.

Thursday's run to the Famous Grouse in Lincoln for lunch.
OR:
The tour of the STOP signs.
It was a lovely winters day. Sunny and not to cold standing around at the Wigram Museum carpark waiting till the briefing at ten to eleven.
19 cars and their hardy crews lined up at the start. The run was organised by Graeme and Merle but unfortunately they couldn't be there, so Kit stepped up and gave the talk.
11.00 am and off we went. Following the well written instructions.
And then!! Stop signs; lots of stop signs. Hence the title.😉
We all got to the venue and Danny was happily sitting there waiting for the team to arrive.
The Grouse has a very good lunch menu. Except for one who wanted breakfast instead, no names. But he drives a home made sports car.
All in all it was a great day out, with a great bunch of people.
Lets see what Graeme has planned for us next month.

for an 11am departure to our destination ‘’ THE FAMOUS GROUSE PUB’’ in Lincoln where
there is parking behind the pub, we have requested all low tables.

Well Sunday the 2nd of August. What a great winters day. The sun was shining and we had a run to go on. What could be better.
Grabbed the laser out of the garage and headed off to the Wigram Museum carpark to meet up with all the other hardy souls at 10.30 am. 18 cars and some 37 people met at Wigram a few others went direct to the venue
11.00 am briefing done and the route to Daimond Harbour chosen, away we go.
Some elected to go via Dyers Pass others via Gebbies Pass.
We chose Gebbies. Less cyclists and no ice.
The Gebbies route took us around the back of Tai-tapu on a few roads less travelled, fantastic scenery, and hardly any bikes.
We arrived at the Two Thumbs Brewery and found that it was a busy place. Great food and good sized portions

SUNDAY AUGUST 2ND

Meet at Wigram Air Museum at 10.30am. Departing at 11:00 for a run to Two Thumbs Brewery and Bar in
Diamond Harbour.
There will be two sets of instructions.
One travelling via Akaroa Rd over Gebbies,
The other via Dyers Pass Rd.

Thursday's run to Taitapu
18 cars and crews left Spitfire Square heading to Lincoln and Taitapu via Rolleston way.
Encountering road works along the way.
A bit confusing at times with a few resorting to traveling on the wrong side of the road. And others taking detours.
But we all arrived and settled in for a lovely lunch, with chatter going on.
