𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗨𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗠𝗖𝗔 𝗨𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗔𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘄 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻

This session will be a great chance for anyone keen to come along and get a basic understanding of umpiring as well as speaking with our experienced umpires.

This session is targeted at 2nd and 3rd grade players. In 2nd and 3rd grade there is plenty of player umpiring, so it would be great to see lots of players along to get a good basic idea of umpiring to help them into the season.

New umpires! We would love to have you along if you have any interesting in taking up umpiring cricket, all experience levels welcomed!

𝗝𝗼𝗲𝗹 𝗟𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿

Marlborough Cricket is excited to announce the appointment of Joel Lavender to the role of Community Cricket Development Officer.

Joel is a product of the Marlborough cricket system, making his debut for the Senior Men's side in 2017, and also representing Central Districts U17 and NZ Maori Schools, both in 2019. His cricket experience, and knowledge of the local community, will ensure Joel is able to make a positive impact on the local cricket scene. A key focus for Joel will be to help Marlborough Cricket grow junior participation numbers and ensuring that we are providing enjoyable, positive experiences.

Joel begins in the role today, Monday 7 September.

Registrations for Harcourts SMASH CRICKET and GIRLS SMASH are now open! These are for Years 3-6 and will be held on Saturday Mornings 9am-10am @ Lansdowne park, starting Saturday 7 November. The sessions run over 12 weeks starting in Term 4 2026 (6 sessions) and continuing in Term 1 2027 (6 sessions).

Teams will be base off schools, so get your friends together and fill a team of 6!

Registrations for SMASH PLAY are now open! We have three hubs - Renwick, Picton and Blenheim, these are for Year 1s and 2s and are a great introduction to cricket. The sessions run over 12 weeks starting in Term 4 2026 (6 sessions) and continuing in Term 1 2027 (6 sessions).

Times, start dates and venues are:
Renwick: starts Tuesday 3rd November 3.45pm-4.30pm, held at Renwick School
Picton: starts Thursday 5th November 4pm-4.45pm, held at Queen Charlotte College
Blenheim: starts Friday 6th November 4pm-4.45pm, held at Horton Park

So we are revitalising the Diversity and Inclusion Committee whose remit it is to discuss aspects of cricket and how we can include everyone in this sport no matter their age, ability, gender or ethnicity, we want to celebrate differences!
