Coming up at Double Whammy, Whammy and Public Bar this week: live comedy and musical improv, post-punk from one of Aotearoa’s quintessential early-‘80s bands, an indie rock showcase from local label Glasshead, indie pop from Beth Elsden, Australian punk and post-punk with These New South Whales, plus hip hop bangers only in Public Bar on Friday night. On Saturday, INK & INDIE brings together fashion, art, music and independent culture for a daytime market, before Reload Culture Presents Headland and a huge club-focused Saturday night in Whammy with SUBVERSE. Come early, stay late.

Tim Mahon (Blam Blam Blam) - The Great Kerfuffle Album Release Show

Tim Mahon – bass player in The Plague (1978-1979), The Whizz Kids (1979-1980), and Blam Blam Blam (1980-1982) – is releasing his new solo album The Great Kerfuffle, and taking it on the road.

His band is also called Kerfuffle, and is a top-notch team, featuring members of Ardijah/Bamboo, O.M.C., Newmatics and Blam Blam Blam.

At a time where every man and his dog are reforming and providing nostalgia, Mahon is presenting new music, with relevance to the interesting times we live in.

From plucking the bass harmonics on the seminal Blam Blam Blam track ‘There is No Depression in New Zealand’, Mahon’s new songs are in keeping with the anarchistic revolutionary themes he has long espoused. The lyrics will challenge you, but the music will hug you, like an old friend you danced with at The Gluepot, The Windsor Castle, Mainstreet, The Gladstone, or The Cook.

Tim Mahon and Kerfuffle will be joined by support acts: guitar legend Teina Benioni (Bamboo/Ardijah), and alt-country NZ/US duo Shooting in the Dark.
