After an unforgettable chapter, we’ve officially handed over the keys to GiGi.
What started as a bold little venture on Ponsonby Road became something bigger than we imagined — late nights, ridiculous laughter, espresso martinis flowing, oysters flying out the door, staff becoming family, and a community that backed us every step of the way.
To our loyal customers — thank you for showing up, celebrating with us, dancing with us, supporting us.
To our suppliers — thank you for sticking by us through the rollercoaster that hospitality can be.
To our GiGi legends (our incredible staff) — you made this place. Your energy, your hustle, your heart. We are forever grateful.
Hospitality in 2026 looks very different to when I first started in 1989 — rising costs, changing culture, tighter margins — but what hasn’t changed is the magic when great people gather in a room.
This was a positive sale and the right move at the right time. An opportunity came up to pass the baton to incredible hands, and we’re excited to see the next chapter unfold in this space.
For me, I’m doubling down on real estate and continuing to write my book about the highs, the lows, and the raw truth of hospitality life. Thane continues on with the country bars, including Joelene — and the story keeps rolling.
Ponsonby — you’ve been good to us.
