Update on Malones Limited
I know many of you have been asking, and I wanted to share the full update now that things are clearer.
Malones temporarily closed on 21 August 2025 because the building was not fit for purpose and did not have a valid Building Warrant of Fitness. The matter is under investigation and pending a court hearing.
Despite this, the owner cancelled the lease on 15 November 2025, leaving the business with no option to continue.
On 18 November, the District Licensing Committee declined the on- and off-licence applications. I would have appealed due to the harsh conditions imposed, but with the lease cancelled and the premises in their current state, it was not possible.
I will not be returning under the current conditions of the property.
To the Waiheke community – thank you for 25 incredible years. The memories, laughter, singing, dancing, and friendships built within those walls will always stay with me.
