Connected Neighbourhoods Trust

Connected Neighbourhoods Trust Connected Neighbourhoods Trust (CNT) is focussed on supporting local communities to be resilient, connected and empowered.

CNT manages the Headquarters & Sunderland Lounge community spaces and provides a wide range of community initiatives & events Connected Neighbourhoods Trust began in 2012, formerly under the name Hobsonville Community Trust. While we began initially in Hobsonville, our community development has expanded over the years to now include Hobsonville, Whenuapai, Herald Island and our community emergency

resilience work extends across Auckland's NorthWest. We manage the Headquarters and Sunderland Lounge community facilities on behalf of the Upper Harbour Local Board, coordinate a range of community development initiatives and also facilitate a community emergency hub, shelter and response group and a range of community emergency networks. We're also pursuing trying to create a new community hub for the new Whenuapai settlement area. Our heart is to empower our communities to connect and foster a sense of belonging where those living, working, studying and playing can contribute to community life. We recognise that every person, family and community has a range of emotional, physical, social, educational and spiritual needs and that it takes a whole community, working together, and operating in its strengths, to help those needs be met. We use the health & well-being model of β€˜Te Whare Tapa Wha’ to guide our approach as we support and serve our wider community.

A nice little Sunday option close to home πŸ‘‡

There’s a Classic Bike Meet happening down at Catalina Bay β€” a relaxed morning of coffee, chats, and some pretty special bikes on display.

Bring your bike along, or if you don’t have one, head down to check out these beauties and enjoy a wander by the water.

We are super excited to announce that our proposed Onekiritea Youth & Community Hub (Te Kori | Scott Point) is rapidly making headway. Subject to the necessary funding and consents being obtained, this will be located where the old derelict shed sits within the eastern, undeveloped part of Te Kori park behind Scott Point School.

The primary purpose of the project is to support the needs and empower the dreams of our young people right across the wider Hobsonville area (and beyond) however this hub will also have a strong environmental and sustainable focus, working closely with groups such as Habitat Hobsonville, Upper Waitematā Ecology Network, and Auckland Council's Park & Facilities Team to begin restoring this part of the park that is overgrown with weeds, grasses and exotic species. The hub will also support a wide range of youth & community initiatives, activations and community gatherings.

On Friday, we lodged our application for resource consent, which follows our application for landlord approval and leasing, and we have also applied for various funding grants which this project will be reliant on if it is to come to fruition. None of this would have been possible without the support of so many local residents, businesses and wider supporters (see our acknowledgement). We have already had hundreds of hours donated to this project to get it to this point across a wide range of expertise. Thank you so much!!!

We want to say a massive thanks as well to the Upper Harbour Local Board for their incredible support, both financially and on a practical level, including on Thursday when they announced funding for this project as part of their Facilities Funding Grant, without which we could not have proceeded to this next stage. We are very thankful to have such a dedicated and practical local board!

Attached are some of the latest designs that have been submitted for resource consent and some concepts pics. Everything is of course subject to change and remains dependent on sufficient funding and backers being found.

If you would like to volunteer your expertise; become an official financial sponsor of the project; or offer your business's resources either freely or at a significant discount; please email [email protected]
