For the next couple of days we're going to be Galbraith's Pie and Alehouse. Our menu will consist of some classic pies, served with mash and gravy, the perfect accompaniment to a pint of real ale.
Okay, full disclosure, our kitchen is having new flooring installed, and is out of action for a couple of days!

THIS EASTER WEEKEND AT GALBRAITH'S:
It's looking like the sun is going to be out and we'll be open everyday with NO HOLIDAY SURCHARGE!!
Also, keep an eye on the latest news because the licensing restrictions that affect alcohol sales on Good Friday and Easter Sunday may be eased by the weekend🤞. But be prepared, you may still need to purchase food when buying alcohol on those two days if the folks in parliament don't make it happen in time. Let's hope they do! ☺️ The Beer Garden is waiting!!

Mr G's Luncheon Ale is BACK 🍺

Meet Mr G's — the session ale that's been around the block (literally).

Brewed with Maris Otter, Imperial and Crystal Malts, this easy-drinking legend delivers biscuit, toasted bread and nutty caramel flavours, with UK Goldings and Celeia hops adding floral and spicy notes and a satisfyingly bitter finish. All under 4% ABV. All day drinkable.

But here's the backstory...

When we first brewed Mr G's back in 2008, it was ahead of its time. Then, a rep from the UK pub chain JD Wetherspoons walked in for lunch, took one sip, and asked us to brew it for their 30th Anniversary Real Ale Festival — alongside 45 of the UK's finest craft brewers.

The result? 1st equal place. Voted by drinkers across 900 pubs. Not bad for a little Kiwi ale, eh?

We've always believed great beer doesn't need to knock you sideways — just deliver on flavour, balance, and drinkability. Mr G's does exactly that.

It's back for a limited time only. Come try it and let us know what you think.

Mr G's, it hits the spot!

Fresh Brew: Bellringers Best Bitter, 4.8% ABV, 35 IBU.

Our flagship Real Ale. First brewed by Keith Galbraith in 1987 when he worked for Larkins Brewery in Kent, England. This was one of the original Galbraith beers. It was named after the St. Matthew's Society of Bellringers, who were very fond of our cask conditioned ales and would visit the pub after their bellringing sessions at the nearby St Matthew-in-the-City Anglican Church.

A classic “Best” brewed using Maris Otter Pale Ale and crystal malts with a smidge of roasted barley. Goldings whole hops throughout the boil lend a soft “Old World” aroma and bitterness. Our house yeast strain is from a brewery that closed late last century after a 200 year brewing history making classic old style Real Ales.

Like all our Real Ales, we use whole hop flowers from the UK. They undergo warm, open fermentation, are naturally conditioned, unfiltered, unpasteurised, and served at cellar temperature from traditional hand-pumps. Sure, newcomers might call them "flat" or "warm" - but that’s not even close. Our Real Ales are cool, not ice cold, and never warm! These complex, flavourful brews are meant for sipping and to accompany spirited conversation!
