To whom it may concern,
On behalf of the Royal New Zealand Navy Association, North Shore Branch, I am pleased to extend an invitation to your members to attend our annual Battle of the River Plate Commemorative Service.
This service commemorates the courage, sacrifice, and professionalism of the sailors who took part in the Battle of the River Plate, one of the first major naval engagements of the Second World War. It also provides an opportunity to honour all those who have served at sea in defence of New Zealand and the Commonwealth.
The service will be held:
Date: Sunday 13 December
Time: 1500
Venue: Anglican Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, Parnell
Following the service, attendees are warmly invited to join us for refreshments and fellowship at the Parnell Returned Services Club.
A promotional poster is attached for your information. I would be grateful if you could circulate it amongst your members and any others who may have an interest in attending.
Members wishing to parade a standard or colour are welcome to do so. If your association intends to be represented by a standard bearer, please advise us so that appropriate arrangements can be made.
We would be honoured by your attendance as we come together to commemorate this significant naval engagement and remember those who served.
Kind regards,
Luke Finnigan
Royal New Zealand Navy Association, North Shore Branch
