Well, in our case, having to stock the products of just one brewery. Unlike most bars, which are ‘Tied Houses’, we can offer our customers the carefully crafted beers of independent brewers from all over the country. We’re passionate about providing the best beer New Zealand has to offer. Even our name is a nod to the brewer’s noble art. A Tun is an insulated brewing vessel used in the mashing and lautering stages of beer making. Like our beer, our food has been designed and prepared by people who care about their craft. Which is why we only choose the freshest ingredients and make everything by hand, so you can enjoy the best New Zealand has to offer.

ABBEY IN AOTEAROA // GARAGE PROJECT WILD WORKSHOP INTIMATE TASTINGS

This is as close as it gets.

Head Brewer Dave Bell from Garage Project's Wild Workshop is coming to our table for two ultra-intimate tastings on Saturday, October 17.

Only 6 seats per tasting. No stage, no mic. Just you, Dave, and some of the rarest bottles in the country poured properly around one table.

2PM - WILD & TRAPPIST - $35pp

Chance, Luck & Magic '25 (750ml) — latest vintage, 5-year spontaneous blend. NZ Champion B**r.

Dubbel Down (2 x 330ml) — Abbey Dubbel, rosewood hue, clove & floral spice

12th Anniversary Quad (750ml) — rich, dark, dried fruit & caramel

Engeltjes P*s (750ml) — NZ's first World B**r Cup Gold. Barrel-aged sour red.

KARAMU BARREL WORKS: SESSION 1 - Hosted by Daryl

An intimate tasting for 6 people only.

A once-off chance to sit down with Darly from Karamu Barrel Works, NZ's Overall Champion Brewery, as he guides you through four barrel aged beauties.

We’re opening 1 x 750ml bottle of each b**r to share between the table - 4 bottles total, poured properly around one table, direct from the brewer who made them.

The Lineup:

A. Karamu Grape Ale – Syrah
Wild ale aged in oak for two years then refermented on Syrah grapes. Vinous, tannic, deep purple fruit over Karamu’s signature farmhouse funk.

B. Karamu Umeboshi
Barrel-aged spontaneous ale on Japanese umeboshi plums. Salty, sour, umami — puckering plum meets wild acidity.

C. Karamu Red
Flanders Red-inspired ale brewed with pale, Munich & dark malts, then transformed for many months in used Syrah barrels by wild yeast and bacteria. Bright acidity, red berries, cherry, plum and soft tannin.

D. Monk Stout
The dark side of Karamu. Roast-driven, barrel-softened stout to close — rich and chocolatey with some leather and barrel.

Hosted by Daryl from Karamu Barrel Works.
Strictly 6 seats. $30 per person.

An intimate tasting for 6 people only.

This is a once-off chance to sit down with Jamie from Cell Division as he guides you through these four b**rs you will almost never see poured again.

We’re opening 2 x 500ml bottles of each b**r to share between the table - 8 bottles total, poured properly around one table, direct from the brewer who made them.

The Lineup:

A. Wildly Madly Deeply (with The Mad Fermentationist)
Mixed-ferment pale sour collab with Michael Tonsmeire. Bright, citrussy, beautifully funky.

B. PULP Riesling
Pre-release from the crowd favourite PULP series - Riesling edition. Juicy, pulpy, white grape meets wild ferment. You’re tasting this before anyone else.

C. La Fleur Brett
Bretted American farmhouse ale. Floral, funky, and bone-dry. Soft citrus and wildflower over farmhouse Brett.

D. John Dough
Sourdough farmhouse ale. Bready, tangy, and beautifully rustic - like the crust of a fresh loaf turned into b**r.

Hosted by Jamie from Cell Division.
Strictly 6 seats. $40 per person.
