To all our wonderful patrons, our staff & everyone who has been on the O’Connell Street Bistro adventure with us.

It’s time to say farewell to the biggest chapter of our lives & O’Connell Street Bistro will close its doors permanently on Friday 16th of April.

While the Bistro has been our life’s work for close to a quarter of a century, we have never thought of it as simply ours. It belongs to every one of you, our fabulous patrons who have supported us, enjoyed our hospitality & so many of you have become our very good friends.

We have watched generations of you return to share your special times with us.

We are honored to have been consistently placed among the top restaurants in New Zealand & have been privileged to work alongside teams of very talented individuals - fantastic chefs, managers, sommeliers, waiters & kitchen hands who have contributed hugely to the success of the Bistro.

We especially treasure the close relationships we have had with our suppliers, many who have been with us since the Bistro opened in 1997.

We of course feel sadness knowing we are at the end of an era, but we feel great joy & satisfaction knowing that together we all created an amazing & special place.

O’Connell St Bistro reopens for dinner tomorrow night from 5pm.

Our January hours are dinner Tuesday to Saturday with our bar and grazing menu available from 3pm Tuesday through Friday.

We reopen for lunches from February 4th.

A reminder that the Bistro has a private room, the Corner Room, adjacent to the Bistro, accommodating up to 20 people on one table and 25 people on two tables.

Sound knowledge of food & wine, with WSET qualifications an advantage

A minimum of 6 months job commitment with current NZ work visa or Residency

Attractive working hours - we are closed Sundays, Mondays & all Public Holidays & all close for 3 weeks over the Christmas/New Year period.
