We have to be honest with you, we weren't expecting this! Recently, we've had more and more customers ask us for a glass of Merlot, even when it's not on this week's menu.

So it looks like Merlot is making a comeback!! And we love that 🔥

Merlot has so much to offer: it's generous, smooth, approachable, often with soft tannins. It usually has great flavours of ripe plums, juicy red berries, and sometimes a bit of spice or chocolate.

Here in New Zealand, Merlot grows particularly well in Hawke’s Bay, Waiheke Island and Northland, and more often than not it's used in Bordeaux-style blend. There are a few producers doing straight merlot and showcasing how good they can be on their own!
