The Auckland Jazz and Blues Club The Auckland Jazz and Blues Club (AJBC) was formed in 1992 to further the interests of jazz and blues in Auckland.

Each night features a different local or out of town band for the entertainment. Sometimes an International star makes an appearence. Steaming hot jazz every club night with the music styles ranging from traditional dixieland, bebop, modern jazz, jazz vocals, swing jazz and big band jazz. AJBC members $15

MIKE (SPIKE) WALKER - RIP

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we inform you of Mike's peaceful passing during the early hours of 26 May.

Mike was a true icon of Auckland jazz, having been the founder and president of our club and with a life-long career as a jazz pianist.

Our heartfelt condolences to his wife Wendy and his family
during this difficult time.

A celebration of Mike's life will be held at the Birkenhead RSA on Tuesday 2 June commencing 10 am. Further details will be posted once arranged.

Further tribute's to Mike's huge influence on the Auckland jazz scene will be posted in due course to supplement this brief notification.

PRESENTATION TO MERV THOMAS
(SIR HORNBLOWER COMBOVER) - 14-5-26

Merv was our Master of Ceremonies for over 10 years as well as being a trustee to support our club.

He has been a lifetime musician having played trombone in numerous bands. He last performed in the New Orleans Joymakers at our club during December last year. His final evening as our MC was during February this year, after which Merv unfortunately had to retire for health reasons.

As Merv has been unable to return to our club, the AJBC Committee visited him last week to present a customised plaque to commemorate his years of devoted service, musicianship, and invaluable contribution to the Auckland Jazz and Blues Club (Inc).

Well deserved and congratulations Merv. We greatly miss you at our club.
