We are very happy to have Fredfades back behind the decks for the second time this spring at Tyven. This time with his friend Darone Sassounian (Rocky Hill Records).
The Mutual Intentions head honcho has in the recent years popped up on the flyers for more and more clubs around Europe, as well as being on his own tours in both Japan and Australia. From previously being associated a lot with soulful and jazz-influenced deep house and disco, his fe**sh for obscurities like what he calls ’stock sound house’ have lately dragged him down in a balearic spaghetti of amateur and private press club music. ‘Soulful music with way too much edge to it’ is how he explains his most recent purchases.

Darone Sassounian is forging a distinctive path in electronic music with a sound that is both timeless and forward-looking. Drawing on deep musical knowledge, technical precision, and a wide range of influences, he creates an emotional depth on the dance floor that transcends passing trends. His sets flow seamlessly through house, disco, jazz, and rare international selections.
In addition to his reputation as a DJ, Sassounian is also an accomplished producer, with releases on Habibi Funk, Terrestrial Funk, and his own label, Rocky Hill. His productions reflect a singular vision with records designed to stand the test of time drawing deeply from his Armenian roots and SWANA diaspora upbringing. Through sound, he aims to revive, reinterpret, and reshape Armenian musical heritage for contemporary audiences.
His sets often spotlight rare Armenian funk from the diaspora era, interwoven with within forward-thinking and unpredictable selections. Darone Sassounian is endlessly driven with authenticity, depth, and a lifelong dedication to the music.
