Tostrup’s name comes from the building located at the top end of the serving area, called Tostrupgården (from 1898). Our nickname, “Dasslokket” has a much more interesting story! “Dasslokket” literally translates to “Toilet lid”, and that’s where it’s meaning originates. Underneath our serving area are in fact, old toilets. These were the toilet facilities used by the neighbouring restaurant inside Tostrupsgården. So you’re literally sitting on top of old toilets, hence the name, “Dasslokket”! Several attempts have been made to change the name, including our current “Tostrup Uteservering”, but the name “Dasslokket” still survives because, well, it’s pretty cool!
