The transatlantic community stands together in mourning the loss of His Majesty King Harald V of Norway. Throughout his reign, King Harald was a unifying force for the Norwegian people, particularly in times of uncertainty and division. A clear defender of diversity, inclusion and community, he consistently reminded us of the importance of standing together, of dialogue and cooperation, and of the shared values on which our society is built.
King Harald was also a steadfast supporter of the close bonds between Norway and the United States. His personal connection to the United States, forged during the Second World War, shaped his lifelong commitment to the transatlantic relationship. He championed the shared values of freedom, democracy, and human rights that reflect our two nations' political and historical kinship. We at AmCham Norway are deeply grateful for his lifelong dedication to Norway, and to the transatlantic partnership. We join people across Norway, the United States and the wider transatlantic community in mourning his loss.
