MODULAFRO will play our next Pelgrim Jam, on the upcoming Thursday (May 28th) 💥🥁🎷

ModulAfro is an international latin-jazz band born and based in Rotterdam. The project pays homage to the Afro-Cuban Jazz interpreting modern arrangements of the milestones of this music, for instance Michel Camilo’s arrangements of Mambo Inn or other groundbreaking compositions like Claudia, Bebo by Chucho Valdes, as well as original compositions. Generally the band embrances the sonorities of the Modern Afro-Cuban Jazz, Timba Jazz and Cuban Fusion taking inspiration by bands such as Horacio “El Negro” Hernandez’s Italuba Quartet. The sound of the band is characterized by the traditional Afro-Cuban rhythms mixed with jazz melodies and harmonies enriched by unexpected moments of interaction between the members of the band.

And just like that, we're back with another round of jams just before the summer - starting off with the RAFAEL SLORS QUARTET 🥁🥁

The music of Rafael Slors' Quartet consists primarily of Rafael’s original compositions, inspired by artists such as Brian Blade, Brad Mehldau, John Scofield, and The Beatles. Expect rich melodies and a warm and atmospheric sound. Each piece is carefully written to resonate, both with the listener and within the band itself.

Coming up next week, we have a roster of the 4 last Pelgrim Jams before the summer begins! And they're all very exciting and diverse, beginning with the RAFAEL SLORS QUARTET, moving on to MODULAFRO, then beginning June with VSR QUINTET and finally RAQUEL KURPERSHOEK 🎶

Are you a band or artist looking for a stage in Rotterdam?

We are currently inviting musicians of all styles and backgrounds to perform at Pelgrim. Whether you play pop, salsa, Brazilian music, funk, rock, jazz, or anything in between — we would love to hear from you!

We are especially interested in bands that already have (or are actively building) an audience in Rotterdam, and are excited to grow their presence in the local scene.

✨ What we offer:

- A spacious venue with a capacity of up to 200 people
- Professional stage lighting
- Experienced sound engineer
- High-quality backline: grand piano, drum kit, guitar and bass amplifiers, monitors, and more
- Dinner for all musicians
