Amps and microphones!
A few days ago I answered a post about using an amp.
I think my answer can help harpplayers on how to start with amps/mic's.
Here's my answer ( not a complete guide, just covering the basics) :
The steps are : correct embouchure, controlled breathing technique, tone building, learning how to listen and analyze how and why other players can sound unique, learn how to use all I wrote before, work on how to improve your tone, hopelfully find your unique tone, HAVE FUN AND BE HAPPY with your tone, learn how to cup a mic from almost completely open to 99,99 % closed, listen to how it sounds without connecting the mic to an amp. Final step, connect the amp, when the mic has a built - in volume control turn it up all the way, and try all possible settings on the amp. This should make any mic/amp combination sound good to perfect. It is always the player who makes an amp sound good. Only when you master all this you can start to think about trying different amps, changing tubes, speakers. As always, HAVE FUN!!
